Does anyone konw of a good dentist as I have been hearing bad reports of the one I have used, from experienced peaple who wouldnt let this person near their horses with a barge pole. Also would a vet do a reasonable job as i have a feeling my new horse will need a sedative

Just had a guy called Steve Neighbour out today for all our neds and he was really good, especially with my youngster who has never seen a dentist before! Don't have his number on me at the mo but will PM it to you tomorrow if you would like it.

I second that

Uggy please could you pm me the details of the one you have used and who to avoid.I need to sort my horse out too but don't want to use my vet as I don't feel a vet is the right person to do the teeth. He did my horse last May and told me he had great teeth and would easily go a year before they need doing but I want to get them done sooner as he is quidding and I'm not convinced he is happy with the bit at the moment either.

Steve Neighbour has done my neds teeth for 11 years, so good at handling the awkward ones, does a lot of racehorses so used to "sensitive" ones too. A lot of other dentists want them sedated for any power work, one of mine really freaks at any "clipper" type noise (summer hacks are a nightmare due to the risk of meeting lawnmowers)! yet Steve can dremmel him unsedated no problem!

I agree he is really good my mare is only 2 and has never seent he dentist before. I was a tad worried to say the least. I voiced my concerns and he told me (in his own way!!) not to worry. She was a star and he handled her great. She's gotta have her wolf teeth out in 6months our other horse had this done and it took another dentist and vet to sedate and cost a lot more than steve will charge. He took some wolf teeth out yesterday and one minute he said they needed doing the next they were in his hand. Was very impressed.
