What qualifications should they have? and does anyone know of a good, patient dentist who doesnt want to sedate them if they get a bit stressed? Thank you
Call Sally Kingsley she is amazing.(TV Vets in Practise) I had her out and told her 2 needed sedating (1 was pregnant at the time) she went ahead, spent time with them both, and managed to get both done without sedating them.
Good thing is with Sally she is a qualified vet so cant administer sedative if she needs to. http://www.s4edt.com/
Ken Holmes - old gypsy type guy that knows EVERYTHING - is the best we've had by far, and every single one of the horses is relaxed in his presence - I don't think he would dream of ever recommending one for sedation!
Thank you all, I have had a look on Sally Kingsleys website and she seems very expensive (only used to paying £30), but proabably like you said very good.
If possible please could you PM me with contact details and prices if poss of dentists?
it was about £50 per horse when she came to do mine, but I did have 4 done at the same time. She is well worth the money. She is very quiet and patient.
Where abouts are you? I use Tommy Nevin, he's fantastic and soo patient. Never gets stressed with them. He does most of the horses as ours and has done for years. Not had one yet thats needed sedating (even when other edt's have said they would). I'm in Teeside but I know he does cover a large part of the North East. Think he was £25 or £30 last year.
I think Tommy Nevin is who we have just had at our yard (Small, elderly chap I believe, I don't know as I was at work) but apparentyl he was out of this world with them and not one needed sedating.
Everyone was EXTREMELY impressed with him. £25 per horse.
Sally K is very good, but difficult to get hold of and prefers to come out to yards where she can do several horses. I used to use her as my lad has to be sedated for dentistry, but she wasn't keen to come out for 1.
John Cranage, based Helmsley way, comes to my lad in Saltburn and is fab, he kinda makes funny noises to him and he lets him do it no bother, lovely chap, bout £20. Also managed to do my friends loony pony that always needed sedating!
