Dentist time!

Belle is due a visit from the dentist this month, was thinking of having her 8 month colt done at the same time.

So what im asking when is the right time to introduce a dentist to a foal?

my filly saw a dentist at the same time as mum when she was 6months old but didnt have her mouth checked until she was 2 this year.

My dentist says that horses should be seen before they are mouthed for backing. Having said that I had a young unbroken horse vetted and the vet was concerned about his teeth. When the dentist visited she took chunks off his teeth and couldn't understand how he managed to eat.

I have called the dentist for a 3 year old but have changed my mind would now do it at 2.

My dentist comes every six months (hes fab and I organise the whole yard) and he has just got Callie used to having her mouth handled but said he will keep checking 6 monthly until she needs work - probably around 2-2 1/2 he reckoned.
