My friend has saved two horse's from going to the meat man

They obviously haven't had the dentist out for about 3 years. There are obvious problems as they can't eat their feed properly.

My friend is worried it is going to cost her a fortune

in dentist/vet bills.

Should she call a dentist out first? or just go straight to calling a vet out? How much will it cost roughly? does it depend on how much work they need doing?

You could try a qualified dentist, and depending on where you are located they cost about £25-£35 approx

However your friend may find that the horses have lots of hooks/sharp edges so the horse may need sedating/or the use of power tools so getting a vet straight out might be the best bet,one of mine has to have the vet power tool her teeth in her old age and it costs £190.00 with sedation/call out!, good luck.
