Currently combating the mites again however have held them off this year pretty well with his feathers clipped off:D He has just started to get a bit itchy and has a few itchy scabs on his heels and I want to get on top again before the stamping starts!

Pig oil and sulphur I have tried but that made him sore and even more itchy and hoping to get some frontline spray from my vet, as I've tried getting every dog or cat owning friend to get some for me but a lot of their vets don't sell it anymore:confused:.

I have heard deosect spray is quite good..any experiences?

no, not really. Mites live IN the skin and deosect only reaches the surface of the skin.

Frontline works because it's alochol based and is absorbed into the skin (along with the chemical that kills mites). I found frontline spray a pain in the backside to get on feathered horses (and really expensive!). Instead I've used frontline spot on: same chemical, much cheaper and easier. It's cheaper to use a different brand of fipronel too. One ' medium dog' pipette per leg.

However none is as effective as the dectomax injection.
