Has anyone had any experience with Deosect as an effective control against sweet itch?

I Read an article saying that trials have been carried out and it showed that midges died on contact. You only have to put it on once a month too.

Just wondered if anyone has used it? I do use the Boett rugs but thought this sounded a good option for when I'm out riding etc.

Any info would be great!!

Hi, i used this for killing lice about 10 years ago, now I know thats a long time ago, and i dont know if they have changed the ingreadients (the bottle is still the same!) but my mother breathed some in whilst spraying our cob and was VERY ill, she was layed up in bed for 4 days, we had the doctor out and she had had a massive reaction, and her body had swelled up all over.
So if you do use it please be very very careful, it's strong stuff.

am also interested to know about this.
i had to buy some for the youngsters and it is very strong stuff and have lots left over and also have a SI pony.
and like you, need something for out riding.

It is brilliant, but very strong.

Horse flies also avoid it, apart from the whopping great big one that scare the hell out of me and my horse.

I hope so, I'm going to buy a bottle and try it this year. I thought it was every 2 weeks for fly control though off the top of my head...
