Deposits

If you pulled out of sale would you be entitled to deposit back, even tho it wasnt requested or stated that it was non refundable? I think I know the answer to this now.

Should only be returnable if the horse fails a vetting or something happens to it. Any other reason would be solely at the seller's discretion I think and don't be surprised if they say no if you've just changed your mind but I think it also depends how much deposit was paid too. They will now have extra keep costs, might have to readvertise or get in touch with any that left their numbers if this should happen.

No, generally they're not refundable. They are only refundable if the purchase was subject to veterinary examination which the horse has failed.

If you leave a deposit, the vendor should take the horse off the market, thus losing any further prospective purchasers.

It's like putting a deposit down on a house - if you change your mind, it's your loss.

I put a deposit down when I thought I had found the one but did write a receipt out and clearly stated deposit paid subject to satisfactory vetting.

Sadly horse failed and owner did return my deposit with no problem at all.
