Well, the niggling injury that has plagued my whole summer has finally been diagnosed as a sprained check ligament. I was just about to plait up for Goring when noticed a slight bit of heat in the leg, so decided not to go to the event and get a scan...Its not serious but means no jumping for 6-8 weeks! pah...was really looking forward to Goring, then Tweseldown, and was also doing the unaff 3 day at Milton Keynes. My whole year has been as disaster, with my injuries, the lorry being off the road and now this.
Now going to drown my sorrows....at least Im off to the Europeans to watch on Friday morning, so thats something to look forward to!
Anyone else had a disasterous season????

Yes! Last year my boy injured his hock, then his back. At christmas he put a hole in his check ligament. We sold our old lorry as we were having one built, then the build took two 3 months longer than it should!
Now my lad is just about ready to compete in bsja.

So i know how you are feeling! But it feels, so wishing your neddy a speedy recovery!

Oh what a disappointment for you. Typical with horses isn't it when you're looking forward to something!

At least you acted promptly and I'm sure with rest your horse will come right.

I managed to get out and about at a few dressage events and a riding club camp. Unfortunately, my horse has been out of action since early August through losing shoes, then a neck abscess and feeling poorly, then his hind leg swelling (thought it was lymphangitis) and this morning he kicks out and catches me on the thigh. My turn to hobble about now! The only good thing is he was galloping round the arena, bucking and squealing with the lunge rein trailing as my idea was to introduce him to some gentle work for 5-10 minutes.

Best wishes for the start of your next season and enjoy the Europeans!

First BE event - rained off
Second BE event - rained off
Third BE event - returned entry as it arrived late despite that very morning telling me it was fine to send it in..
Then broke my leg.
Rubbish rubbish season

well well...i decided a long time ago to forget 2007 but it has got even worse since then.
it started by being ok...we were looking for a horse but couldnt find one...after 3 months found one we liked...my parents sed actually u have got to sell one horse before we get u a new one and so we couldnt buy the one we wanted ...i sold one within a week and then couldnt find a new horse. so overall it took me 8 months to find a horse which i have finally got. i had 9 odes cancelled and that isnt to mention sj and dressage comps cancelled!!!grrrrrrr. this is wen i decided to forget 2007. it was then goin okj till yesterday and this really is horrific... one horse slices himself on an electric fence post and goes to the vets to have treatment...then i go out at 5.30 this morning and my other horse has gashed her head and side and legs from getting cast in the stable and panicking...so she is at the vets!!!agggggghhhhhhhh....2007= all the swear words ever made!

Similiar to icestationzebra. Pulled out of 3 spring events due to hard ground, had two BE events rained off. Got 4 good runs then broke my leg in July and out til Xmas so not the best year! On the other hand in my few runs had my best ever results so at least Sarnita is resting on her laurels!

Yep! Bought a new horse, she lasted 3 weeks and has been lame since May, if I am lucky I might be jumping her in Feb next year.

But on the other hand I 100% had the best year not to be able to do anything what with floods and F&M etc.

oh, gosh, that's awful. poor horses, poor you.
well, last year i lost 2 horses, so i thought this year couldn't get any worse. but...
this year one youngster has had choke 3 times running, solely due to being a complete pig, vet call out every time. diagnosis of my lovely lovely homebred mare, my great hope for the future who is SO talented and who i've waited patiently for for 6 yrs, as having "naturally weak tendons" which won't stand up to any hard work at all.
basically, haven't done any competing for about 3 years, due to a million different reasons, and am about going stir crazy. roll on winter, new horse, and next season!
