Most of you dont know that about 2 months ago i gave up riding due to the fact that i was getting board at the riding school and all the share horses i had been to look at were all unsuitableI have spoken to parents and at this moment in time we are just not ready to get a horse financially and knowladgabally. When i was riding at the riding school i asked the instructor if by any chance i could on eof the horses to a few local shows and he looked at me in disgust ( you thought i was asking him to give me a horse for free). Were i live there just isnt anyone with a quiet confidence giving horse/pony that needs some help. Plz help i feel terrible

Why don't you try offering your help at local shows or the pony club/riding club.

You'll get the benefit of being around lots of horsey people and will get to hear of things word and mouth, which is more likely to reap results. Good luck, I'm sure something will come your way soon.

I was in your situation quite a fews ago - a friend put me onto my local RDA Group (riding for the disabled association) where I started working as a volunteer at the weekends. Helping with lessons, I started off being a side helper working my way up to leading and more. I got to learn everything I needed to know about working and keeping horses - totally for free and the best thing was I was able to help others at the same time! Eventually I got to a stage where I could help warm some of the horses up, have lessons on them and go hacking.

I am still with them but also now have a horse on loan to me as with the knowledge and confidence I gained through working with them felt ready for further commitment.

Might be worth you searching for a group in your area, most are very very welcoming and always desperate for volunteers! Try google searching RDA or riding for disabled.....

Good luck with whatever route you take !

How about offering help at a yard or privately for work in return for free riding. I am desperate for a rider for one of my horses - I dont even need any work done, just want the horse ridden but have had no interest whatsoever..... you'd think kids would be queing up!
