I got an email today with a 20% off voucher code jobby today, I had an email from them a day or two ago (lets face it they send them daily!!!) and I saw a nice Horze rug that was on offer for £70 something pounds cant remember the exact price but I know it was 70 'something'. So I thought oh 20% off 70 would make it affordable, so I looked for the rug and guess what 'big surprise' the rug has gone up to £92.20 so the 20% off makes it £73, the price it was a few days ago.

C'mon Derby House, call a spade a spade you are no better than DFS with your never ending sale. Wont be spending my dosh your way you bunch of sharks!

If you're going to offer big discounts then offer them, but don't put your prices up and think no one will notice!! Either stand by your prices and market hard, or offer deals that you say you are offering.

haha dont post on twitter asking "if they are going under as they are constsly having sales"...

they offered to take me off their mailing list as im constantly getting them.... daily.

Don't understand why you are THAT annoyed. Most companies do these money off things but they cannot be applied to existing offers. So even if the rug was £70 when you try to redeem the code I doubt they'd let you have the discount on top of an offer, if that makes sense. I haven't looked at the site but that's how it works with most sales/offers...

True but it doesnt make it much of an offer........and will pee off otherwise loyal customers...so what is the point...?

I have had some seriously great bargains from Derby House. I bought a lovely gussetted no fill rainsheet that was half price at £17 last year and then got another one completely free. So 2 great quality rainsheets for £17 - you can't beat that imo and even the postage was free.

But you have to offer the item that is to be put on sale or for offer at the higher price for at least 30 days.

So Derby house are in breech of trading laws.

Only bought from them once over Easter they were doing a BOGOF on their own brand rugs. I was a bit dubious never having a derby house rug before but £70 for 2 rugs, nice and cheap that I needed having just spent all my money on a new horse. So thumbs up from me as the rugs aren't half bad either.

I think you will find other companies also do the same have a so called percent off but they have increased the original prices!

I also used the offer at Easter and bought 2 fleeces for under £20 which I thought was really good! I hope they do another one soon because my boy will need a medium weight this year as the 2 he has are so patched up they leak!

@amy may, even if that is true how do you know OP didn't spot the deal on the 28th day? You don't so it's unfair to say that they have breached it. Also, what about companies that have bank holiday sales? Are they not in breach?

I didn't get the impression that it had been a 'length' of time in between finding the item and then deciding to purchase.

Of course could be wrong....

My point is/was that by implying a one day offer of 20% off everything - they are misleading you into thinking that it is a genuine sale, when in fact it isn't the item remained the same price!

Smoke and mirrors, sorry don't play those games. I will wait for genuine sales, like Frogpool and R&R have where they actually sell stock at rock bottom prices - love a bargain me but I won't buy their own brand stuff as I have seen friends rugs fall apart after a few days use.

" I saw a nice Horze rug that was on OFFER for £70"..."rug has gone up to £92.20" wouldn't exactly call them sharks just because an offer ended. It's not like they raised the price of the rug after giving you the discount. The offer ended. Just unfortunate for you OP.

I was interested in a pair of jodphurs, until I realised it was £20 to post to Spain. No problem there, price clearly diplayed and might be worth it if I was buying more than one item - what shocked me was when I price the button to change the price into Euros it change from £25ish to over 51€ I know the Euro is in crisis!
Not wanting to hijack the thread but does anyone know - if I do buy something using my card from a Spanish bank and choose buy it at the sterling price quoted on the website, who does the conversion - would it be Derby house or my bank?

I love Derby house and have benefitted from their mistakes at times. They were having a BOGOF offer on all Derby house rugs, and then a few days later I got an email saying rugs were half price. I went and put six in my basket and saw that someone had forgotten to take off the BOGOF! ;) So when I went through the check out, I got six rugs for a quarter of their full price. Six rugs including heavyweight turnouts and medium weights for £67 including delivery! :)

I waited a few days, fully expecting them to cancel my order due to the mistake, but they honoured it.

You also said that it was a voucher code. I would hardly call that a sale... You say smoke and mirrors but I don't believe they've done anything wrong.

I've bought from them three times this year and they've been great. Two rugs and a pair of breeches. All arrived really blimming quickly and all are good quality. All their own brand.

I haven't had much to do with them but I can't fault them myself. I'm sure my luck will run out eventually but in the mean time I can't give them anything but a massive thumbs up.

I agree, nothing wrong, but the percentage off should be ignored and just look at the price they are offering the goods for, which is often reasonable, but the percentage cut often varies.

I too have had some excellent bargains and service, but their prices going up and down depending upon the offer can get a bit annoying.

I like Derby house myself. Always had fantastic service, & just time it right with the offers to get bargains. And like Wagtail, I have had rugs at 25% when they've made an error. And in the shop have had the same too. Just pick & choose when to buy.

I have had a few bargains with them but I get where the OP is coming from as they are constantly doing some sort of offer and unless you keep an eye on their prices you may not be getting the bargain you think ..
