I was on the Derby House website, they seem to have some nice things that they make own brand this year, but having previously read bad reviews for them from a few years ago, I wonder if there's been any change in the quality of their rugs? Waterproofness of the turnouts is my biggest need :o

It's more the delivery. Check it's in stock before you order! I ordered boots that were in stock and had them 2 days later. If it's not you're waiting months! I used a company called ruggles last year which were great. I used discount horse rugs 4 you, for aheavyweight combo turnout 2 years ago for £40 its still very waterproof and usable, really good quality and a bargain for how well it's lasted and fits very nicely!

And oh my god once they have your email address :eek::eek:

They have a sale every day which is ending every day and extended every day. Arghhhhhh!!!!

Haha this exactly they always have a rug that you just need to buy because its soooo cheap, or boots they seem to like them two items!

I've never had a problem with DH if I'm honest. We have rugs from them, survived a rug eating monster through winter. No delivery problems either, except years ago I ordered a rug and neck from them. Neck came but no rug. A week later I rang and was told it wasn't in stock but they were sourcing one for me. Sure enough 2 days later I had one. Whether they forgot to add it in I don't know, but I didn't have a huge problem getting it.

It was stated on my initial delivery note that it would follow, and I guess it did.

From my experience the DH rugs are fine, the clips are a bit weak on some but as long as you don't have a total rug destroyer they are good value for money and seem to fit really nicely too. However! - they have the worst customer service in the world and you may never receive your items - until last year I had no problems with them, but the past 3 orders I placed have put me off DH for life - can't go through that drama again! (and my items were all "in stock" ;)) x

Haha they seem to have rugs on sale for £25 one day then a complex offer for the same rugs every other day 'buy this mw rug that is not really worth £60 and get the lw FREE!' Sure two rugs for £60 is pretty reasonable (if you wanted two!), but they should just leave it at a sensible price and stop emailing me about it!

OP I actually think the quality of their rugs is great for the price (well, whatever cheaper price), just the delivery can take a REEAALLY long time (think months) so I'd probably check things are in stock first!

Bought a DH LW turnout for my old pony. Apart from the fact it faded a bit I didn't have a problem with it :) bought it at badminton so didn't have to deal with p&p

Wouldn't buy from them again! Several times Ive ordered things online, only for them to then tell me they don't have them in stock, why advertise them! I also find their rugs are fine for a short while then they start to leak and their stable rugs don't sit right, they tend to twist.

I bought 2 who's lining went really quickly, but another 2 light weight turn outs have been worn regularly for 3 years and still in one piece, just starting to loose their waterproofing a bit. but cost be something like £20, so great value! I quite like their fit.
personally always found delivery good, before you pay you just have to check what is written by each product, as some do say not in stock. but I've never had to wait more than 2 weeks

Never had any problems with their rugs and always delivered quickly. I did order two pairs of boots that were on offer, and I was informed that they were awaiting stock. My emails requesting updates were answered quickly and finally one pair arrived with the other to follow. After several more weeks I emailed for an update but didn't get a reply so put a comment on their fb page. Within an hour I had a reply on fb, and an email apologising for not responding. I had an immediate refund and a gift voucher as an apology!

Not had any issues. The rugs are perfect for forever growing youngsters and the babies that play tag with their teeth.

Delivery can be hit and miss but I just pick up the phone and they send what I have ordered that is in and the rest generally follows in a few days time.

Have used them for years and never had any problems..... until recently when I made an order and received nothing tried emailing them no joy so wrote on their fb and got a reply but still no answer, I did finally get the order and a £10 gift voucher which I wont be using due to their extreme lack of customer services and communication. Find other online companies way better and with prompt delivery.

They do have some nice stuff, a few people on the yard have derby house rugs but it is just the delivery.

I ordered a pair of boots 3 weeks ago and they're not going to arrive for another 2!

I did order a fly rug which in itself was good, I liked it, but it didn't fit and one of the front buckles was broken and they wont have it back... instead they are sending out a replacement clasp... it doesn't fit!

Derby House have issues with customer service & the fact it takes forever for your order to arrive. I don't bother with them anymore, they're a waste of time.Don't bother ordering a lightweight spring/summer rug as by the time it arrives you'll be needing a heavyweight!

I haven't bought from them recently because they just don't have anything I'm interested in.

I used to swear by their rugs; good fit, good quality and reasonably priced. But then they seemed to expand rapidly and the quality and fit of the rugs deteriorated and the prices went up. The last rug I bought from them was about 18 months ago and was a heavyweight. My horse isn't a rug destroyer, but the clips went within days, the surcingles bent, the lining went and I have no idea what shape horse they were fitting when they designed the neck, but in my opinion it was awful.

If I am looking for anything in particular, I compare websites and unfortunately, DH just aren't competitive enough.

I can't comment on delivery etc as when I did order they were fine but that wasn't recently.

I found for big horses they aren't very generous depth wise - my 17hh looked like he was in a mini skirt ! Smaller horse was OK, the better makes I find give more depth as the sizes go up.

So sad to hear bad things of Derby House. The catalogues bear no resemblance to the old Derby House of Brian and Polly. A trip to the shop was always such a treat. They stocked everything that was good. Now a new company is trading on the old name. Such a shame.

The quality of their stuff is good but I've recently been disappointed in them. The website said the items were in stock, I ordered them and two weeks later they still hadn't come so I rang up and they said the items weren't in stock at the time of ordering even though the site said they were. Three weeks later the order finally arrived. Won't be using them again unfortunately.

Unlike many, I have NEVER had any problems with orders or deliveries from DH, and their stuff is generally good quality.

This ^ Expanded too quick. Now they've filled the shop with cheese and meat! I've had 2 emails today alone from them- desperate, much!

Avoid derbyhouse, I ordered dubarry boots for excellent price 5th June. Many phone calls and emails later they just keep saying out of stock. Dubarry say there is no problem supplying so I think they put things on to tempt you in with no intention of ever supplying. Friends have had same experience and each time takes months to get a refund. They are obviously making money out of the interest gained in keeping people's money. Worst company I have ever dealt with!!!!

If you are going to the shop great but the delivery is a b****! I found that their prices are awesome and their own stuff is of reasonably quality

I am so disappointed in derbyhouse not delivering what they promise, ignoring all communication and taking months to refund I have set a group up on
Facebook, Avoid Derbyhouse. If anyone wants to join please do, strength in numbers of disappointed customers and together perhaps we can tackle this unethical company ( and that's being polite")

Have you got the link, I'm so peeved that I've reported them to watchdog, I'm sick of them taking my money then weeks later telling me they don't have the good.

i used to like dervy house (before they became a chain store). i still keep a copy of their 2004 catalog as a momento...
