Is there somthing happening to derby house?, laterly everything i have looked for is out of stock/ can't be found anymore, are they just getting rid of there winter stuff?, also i've sent away for a couple of cat's and the've never arrived

i have noticed the same i ordered some gluconsamine and thermatex leg wraps and ordered them on 10 january and still havent got them and they say there awaiting stock. Will not be buying things from them again.

I waited over a month for my Ariat Bromonts. They didnt let me know anything until I phoned them asking where they were after a fortnight, they said "oh they're out ot stock", yet they didnt think of telling me that when I ordered...

yep, they're hopeless at the moment. what really annoys me too is that they'll send off some of an order, then send the rest in dribs and drabs, charging full postage each time.

i order elsewhere now. there's a lot of other great saddleries online, which have much better customer care tbh.

every year they're this hopeless, get to sort of march and they're fine again really fast and efficient up until november again!

they're still delivering for xmas until mid jan usually
then getting rid of all last years stock!

but most the year they're relaly good iv had no problemos!

Mmmm, I had a scenario with them too - I wanted a particular pair of breeches for my husband, and asked them to check the label that the material content was the same as the last pair we had ordered - they had changed since the original pair we had a couple of years previous. They went away, checked, confirmed it was what we wanted and when they arrived they weren't! Never again. TBH if I get anything in the post from them catalogue wise I put it out for recycling!

I think things went downhill when CAM bought the original derby house out. They have since kept buying up other saddlerys like Olney and ruined them as well!!

I have also heard that apparently they are not good at paying their bills on time and have been messing their suppliers around - this might go towards explaining why stuff is always out of stock.

A friend of mine's just been charged for over £200 worth of kit that has never arrived!!!! They still debited her card and told her it was her problem and that she should complain to the courier firm herself.

So she's out of pocket with nothing to show for it. She's written to complain and a week on still not had any response.

I ordered some boots for my mare and some breeches for myself a few weeks before christmas. The boots arrived within a few days with a note to say that the breeches would follow. I had a phonecall about a week later to tell me the breeches were out of stock until after christmas. I emailed them last week and was told the earliest I'll get them is 25th Feb!
I'll not be ordering from them again!

also just to add i ordered some boots a couple of weeks ago and they arrived within a week

so its not all bad!

and breeches and a rug (separatly) both came within a week

only thing iv ever had a problem was a bloody licket multipack last xmas that took 3 months to come! i only ordered it as i had ordered a load of other stuff.. deary me

I've virtually stopped even looking at Derby House now - I think they are having problems somewhere along the line.

I've started using The Saddlery Shop now - www.thesaddleryshop.co.uk - I have brought a few things from them and they haven't let me down yet. They have quite a good range of stuff on there.

The other website that I have been using a lot more recently is www.hyperdrug.co.uk - they have a great range of tack, feed supplements, stable equipment and first aid and veterinary supplies. Again Hyperdrug are always dead quick with their deliveres, and their supplements seem to be quite well priced.

Don't talk to me about Derby House!

I could be here all day writing an essay telling you all about my ridiculous experiences with them! I have written numerous emails about various problems, and have never received a reply. I eventually put pen to paper and received the most obnoxious response.

The Moreton shop is hopeless, its like a jumble sale with stock piled high, you have to climb over stuff and what you actually do want they don't have in stock!

I have stopped buying from them, and non of my horsey mates in the area will go near the place with a barge pole either- they all hate it. Its such a shame as its great to have such a big equestrian store in the area, shame they dont seem to value their customers.

In the past six months I must have been about 10 times and I am usually the only one in the shop!

Thanks goodness its not just me!

It is such a shame they have gone down the pan as I used them so much in the past and they were brilliant. Agree that the rot set in when they bought out CAM .. think they've overstretched themselves.

I ordered stuff just after xmas, had 2 email saying that my order had been ordered,
waited 2 weeks
phoned them up and they said......What order????

didnt know anything bout it
and all my stuff was out of stock when I tried to re order

I ordered some ariat boots for next day delivery, ordered at 9am for this service, they didnt call timm 2pm to say out if stock- too late for alternative to be delivered. I was told 2 week delay, they arrived 7 weeks later- no call to me I had to chase them. They have done this twice to me, if you order fr next day delivery it would help is they told you sopner soyou could order an alternative!

Derby House are 10 minutes from where I live, but I rarely (unless in dire emergency) go there to buy anything. They seldom have what I want, and the prices are fairly high. There are many other on line shops that have a better selection, better pricing and better customer service. I have decided that I will wait until I go to some of the big county shows to buy any other stuff - at least I can generally try it on the pony/horse on the day and swap if I get the wrong size. And the prices are nearly always much more favourable at a showground.

I've had the worst customer service from DH...I ordered one rug, their system screwed up and sent me three identical ones...they firstly wouldn't take the extra two back, then would only take them back if I paid postage both ways....and finally only took them back and refunded me postage etc when I threatened to name and shame them in my job (to lots of horsey people lol)
Avoid like the plague
