Derby House

I've never had a problem with them. Every time i've ordered goods have arrived in the next few days if things are in stock. If anything is out of stock they have sent them as soon as they get them in.

DONT DO IT!!!! They have really gone down hill and wont tell you if stuff is out of stock

I had a very bad experience with them - they sent the wrong bridle twice, charged me for postage to return in the 2nd time and took ages to refund the price of the bridle. They never rang me back when they said they would and imo the customer service was appalling! I will never order from them again, especially as I had had long delays with previous orders and no communication.
I rate jumpers horseline (the old dairy saddlery) - they are fantastic.

ETA That after I realised it was the wrong bridle the 1st time we had already tried it on the horse (to check fit, so it was only on for seconds) and they told me initially I couldn't return it - this was for a bridle they sold for £80 and not the one I'd bought for £125.

of course Fran

Was going to get a semi decent bridle (not too expensive) because the one he has is pretty tired

Oh and maybe something for moi

I have had loads of problems with DH - stuff being sent months late and they never used to say if things were out of stock when you ordered on-line, although it looks on the website as though this has changed now. I try not to order from them if I can help it, but they do have a good range so sometimes I have to!

Their website doesn't say when things are out of stock which is really annoying

I put a delivery in over the phone last week and it was fine

Haven't tried to return anything though which is where you usually find out if a company is good or not!!

It took 3 1/2 months to get Olympics Thermatex delivered.......They phoned me 4 times over the 3 1/2 months to ask me what size rug I wanted because they didn't have it on the order sheet

jenbleep - Jumpers (Old Dairy Saddlery) currently have a sale on their bridles with brass fittings because they are being discontinued, dont know if this would suit you though? They have both black and havanna, but when I went in there (they are a mile up the road from me!) they had no cob sizes left, just horse and pony. Great saving though; I think a bridle without reins worked out at a £39 saving!

I had problems with them late last year.

The courier they used kept leaving things at the yard gate at the bottom of the drive instead of bringing them to the yard, i had stuff delivered to the stables rather than home as there is always someone about.

Several of the things i ordered on line were not in stock, but as others have said already, I wasn't aware of this and just got my order in dribs and drabs. I phoned to tell them to tell their courier not to leave packages at gate as they could be taken, but courier kept doing it and (thankfully I got most of them) one item was for some fairly expensive breeches!!

Then some gloves that I had on order for the winter just didn't arrive at all, after several phone calls they told me that they were out of stock and wouldn't be getting them in ever again!! If I had known that I would have just gone to local shop and bought some rather than have cold hands for ages!!! They did refund me though for the gloves which they said they HAD sent out!! So who knows what happened to the gloves, lost in post or nicked from the end of the drive????

Sometimes it's easy to use the mail order companies as they supposedly have all the things in stock that you want and local shops don't always have a full range also it can be hard if you are working full time to get stuff at weekends.
Haven't used DH since, trying to support my local tack shop now!!

iv used derby house LOADS...never had a problem... and stuff iv ordered always comes in a few days, a week max. - and they do tell you whether its out of stock or not..and if it is they try and get it to u as quickly as possible =]

We visited the Wrightington store on Friday and couldn't find any Breeches in a size 28" In the past if they didn't have what you wanted they would deliver it to you for free. It then changed to free to your local store, now it's not free at all!!

The staff blamed it on a management change, so this might answer your complaints.
