Okay, so you wanted to see the finished work...here you go. Just a couple of the "beginning" photo's for those who didn't catch the first thread...

And how it looks now. Cement will be given a couple of weeks to dry out before we start to tidy up and do the last little bits of work, then it's on to the arena...a 60m x 40m :)

Because we had a narrow barn to start with, we needed to ensure the stables were deep enough (all are 14ft wide) but that the walkway would be safe despite being narrow, hence the design. All stables feature an angled doorway, so no need to turn in a small area and possibility of catching tack/hips on entering and exiting the stables is gone. There's an open seating area on the right side of the barn, an open rug bay and closed feed and tack rooms. We'll be converting the barn opposite into an office, kitchen and loo and the next thing to go up is the perimeter fencing and security. We already have wildcams in the fields, but we'll have live webcams and recorded security on the yard and barns as well.

We're very lucky to live in a very quiet area, down a no through road, but you can never be too careful, so we're going all out on security and I like that owners will be able to log into the webcams and see their horses as and when they want to.

Very exciting! It's a lot harder to plan your own than you'd think isn't it? I spent ages changing mind about stupid things like where light switches would go and which way the door should open  ps, glad u liked the squirrel ;)

IT WAS YOU??????????????????? Not been back to check on that thread for ages. I had my suspicions, but couldn't quite be sure. Thank you so so much. Beautiful gifts...and guess what my favourite mug is now?;)

Yes, a total headache on the design front. Had there been more room, it would have been much less of a headache, but it's worked out and I'm pleased...if I ever do this again where a horse has to come out of a stable and turn, I will definitely always do the angled doors.

They look fantastic and a brilliant idea regarding the webcams..... Such a great thing to have!
Spend a lot of time designing the tack rooms... If wooden doors they will need to be steel lined behind..... As a victim of theft recently when my barn was ram raided and loads of equipment taken time spent designing a strong room will be seldom wasted!

Ha! There actually could be mantraps. There are a few drains that are about 15th deep. They are covered, but I could sort that, lol ;)

Wow! Do you mind me asking if the concrete was extortionate? I would love to concrete my yard, it is already membrane then hardcore which has been down 10 years- do they just poor over the top of the hardcore? (assume they need to level it) . love the idea of the wildcams!

Love the angled doors. I'm not a fan of a lot of indoor stables for that exact reason that they have to turn in narrow spaces, but that's a great solution.
