Dermatitis - best shampoo to use and tips for prevention

My new horse has dermatitis in his armpits, groin and his pastern area. He also has a few scabs on his neck and quarters.

My vet recommended a medicated shampoo to clear the current scabs and also a good barrier in mud season to prevent mud fever.

I wondered if anyone had any shampoos and barriers they recommended, and also any tips for preventing it, such as dietary or stable management?

Clorexyderm is good for dogs. Not sure if you can use it on horses but cant see why not.
