My old section D stallion had Derwen Rosina's last in his pedigree, his sire was Brenin Dafydd.
He was a fab stallion, he was small for a section D, but a lovely stallion, he had a wonderful temperament, he was a gentleman on the ground but could be a little devil to ride at times, though once he realised you were not worried, he would behave impeccably, he had a lovely high stepping canter which was lovely to ride.

Here he is

One of my favourite Derwens whom I used to admire in my WPCS manuals was Derwen Replica

My welsh x has lots of derwens in his pedigree, he is so lovely to handle and has lush movement. Mulledwine Moggy, what was your stallion called? Looks very much like my boys dam

I LOVE Derwen Cobs. Rosina's Last, Desert Express and Railway Express were my all time favourites.

Ohhh... He's grand daddy to our young baby... Sire is Gobannium Rhys...

He's been so easy to handle since we bought him - he's managed to make himself the stable cuddlebug... 8 mths at the moment and growing like the proverbial weed... :)

Many years ago when we were looking for a sec D to buy, we ended up at the Derwen Stud, as Ifor had a mare he thought we'd be interested in (Ifor is a born salesman). Ifor was kind enough to let me look round his stud and he introduced me to Derwen Railway Express and Derwen Replica.

I remember Replica was rather like a fire breathing dragon, but he had such presence and was the most stunning liver chestnut. Railway Express on the other hand, I totally fell in love with, he was smaller than Replica, but was just the gentlest lad, I was allowed in the stable with him and he just nibbled the buttons on my jacket, but when he moved he had such power, he was gorgeous!

Oh you lucky thing :D He looked like he was full of presence in photos let alone in the flesh.

I did work experience at Fronarth Stud when I was younger and loved meeting all the horses, but above all else Cyttir Telynor, think he was around 19 at the time, I thought he was stunning, I wanted to breed him with one of our own youngsters (Tia Maria) from my stallion above and my late Seren

I also met their very gentle old boy Ceredigion Tywysog, he has about 25 back then, he was very sweet.

Oh I do love a welsh cob, this is a real trip down memory lane this :D

I've got Derwen Trumpeter - I bought him from Ifor in August. he is gorgeous and his sire is Derwen Revelation.

My last horse (Plasbach Gethin) who was put to sleep aged 21 in April (still crying for him....) was sired by Derwen Dai and on his dam's side - the dam's father was Brenin Dafydd.

mine has alot of Derwen! She's a different pony everyday, beautiful (i may be biased), can be the riding school plod for little kids or a fire breathing snorting dragon pulling you everywhere (usually in a gallop up a good hill!) she is a soppy girl (sometimes :p) and very very very smart, and therefore CHEEKY. I love her to bits! Also she LOVES jumping :D here be the beast herself:

And because I couldn't resist, this is my old Sec D who we bought from Ifor those many years ago, she wasn't a Derwen, but a Trefaes, she was lighter build than your average Sec D. I certainly had fun on her, did PC etc, got carted with regularly, and loved her to bits.

Breathing Replica looks gorgeous. Is the Trefaes picture outside Ifor's? Henry Blake who wrote "Horse Sense" etc. had Trefaes Comet who sounded an amazing b@stard!

Love Derwen cobs- I went to visit Ifor in the summer and he showed me this years foals, all were just gorgeous and lovely natured. All of his stallions were placid and you could just walk in to their stables and have a chat with them. We saw Revelation, such a fantastic stallion, beautiful head! I'd definitely be looking at Derwen cobs if I was in the market for a welshie.

And we know why you bought him, because you were jealous of my Fronarth/Derwen/Nebo boy, right? ;) He is lovely, though, old fashioned looking boy, as was Gethin :)

Mine is by Fronarth Victor so has Derwen Seren Teledu and Telynor on his side, with Desert Express, Dairy Express, Railway Express, Seren Teledu, Duchess and Telynor on his dam's side! That's a lot of Derwen! As well as the Nebo and Fronarth lines, so obviously I'm hoping he'll turn out a good old fashioned stamp. He has a lovely nature at the moment and is very, very clever, almost too much so :p

Mine has got Derwen Rosina and Derwen Llwynog on her mum's side. Then I started playing with that allbreeds pedigree website looking at her great great greats.... She has some (not sure how many greats, but lots) grandparents called Broccoli (a stallion) and Sprouts (a mare) who had a son called Cauliflower. This was in around 1855. Might be on some of your pedigrees as well as it's on Mathrafal/Trotting Comet if you care to look back that far.

You've got a good eye for detail Waffles! Yes, it was the day I tried her at Ifors, and the photo was taken outside his house which was right next to his yard. It was a beautiful day and we decided then and there to take her. Ifor brought her down to us in North Somerset just a few days later in his lorry. She was very feisty, but she was so much fun to ride, I used go off for four hours at a time all over the Mendips, even rode her all the way to the beach at Weston Super Mare and back with a friend, which took all day!

Her full name was Trefaes Bernadette, I can't remember her sire, but her dam was Trefaes Bonny: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/trefaes+bonny. She had the great Mathrafal and Pentre Eiddwen Comet in her pedigree.

Bryngelenponies, good to hear he still has happy stallions, I guess Revelation must have Replica bloodlines with a name like that!

Here's one more of Ifor's stallions, the rather lovely Derwen Paddington:
