Here's a picture of my yearling colt.
We used Derwen Sea Adventure on one of my favourite mares.
I think we'll be going back!!

My young lad, Gwynfaes Gerrallt has some Derwen in him. He is by Thorneyside The Gaffer

http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/thorneyside+the+gaffer

Out of Gwynfaes Gwenhwyfar who is a full sister to Gwynfaes Culhwch.

He has pretty much all of the lines I love. Nebo Black Magic, Derwen Rosina, Derwen Railway Express et al.

This is his Uncle: http://www.gwynfaes.co.uk/Culhwch.htm

I really hope he turns out half as good and by early signs he is going to be cracking :D

This is a really interesting thread. Wolf's dam (who is a sweetheart) carries Derwen Telynor on her sireline and then is linebred to Rosinas Last:

I'm afraid I don't know a lot about welsh pedigrees, and then on the damline Gem starts picking up some Cs and I know even less about them LOL. When I bought Wolf I consulted a friend of mine who does know her welshies and she gave Gem's pedigree the thumbs up so that's good enough for me ;)

However, I've heard some people say they don't like Derwen blood in their welshies - why is this?

And we know why you bought him, because you were jealous of my Fronarth/Derwen/Nebo boy, right? ;) He is lovely, though, old fashioned looking boy, as was Gethin :)

Mine is by Fronarth Victor so has Derwen Seren Teledu and Telynor on his side, with Desert Express, Dairy Express, Railway Express, Seren Teledu, Duchess and Telynor on his dam's side! That's a lot of Derwen! As well as the Nebo and Fronarth lines, so obviously I'm hoping he'll turn out a good old fashioned stamp. He has a lovely nature at the moment and is very, very clever, almost too much so :p

Ha ha! Yes, when I first saw your coloured boy I said "That's a nice horse" and I meant it..... when I lost my lovely PlasBach Gethin it was the picture of your new Welshie boy that made me want another one - I wasn't going to get another - so it's all your fault!! Ha ha!!

Also, my lovely Welshie has inherited his dad, Derwen Revelation's lovely head and has passed that on to his progeny. Derwen Replica is Revelation's grandsire. When we went up to see Ifor in the summer we saw the foals and the stallions who are all lush! I, too, couldn't believe how placid all the stallions were. Ifor has Derwen Retort for sale at the mo (he was gelded a few months ago and is about 5 I think) - a really lovely dark chestnut with gorgeous yellowy eyes!

My youngster's grandsire on his dam's side is Gwynfaes Culhwch - he must be a similar stamp to your with a lot of the same lines :D

One thing I've noticed looking a the pictures of the youngsters on this thread and on some of the links is my boy doesn't seem to be as big as the others, in height and in stature. He's 20 months, around 13hh and seems a lot more baby-ish than the others. When did your cobs start to look like cobs and not big foals IYKWIM? He's started to fill out a little these last few weeks but I hope he's not a runt lol!

People say (including a vet friend of mine) that geldings grow bigger than stallions (tom cats do this too I think when they are heutered - grow bigger) - is yours gelded now? One of my boy's foals is already 15hh ages about 19 months. My boy is 14.3hh and his mum is less (about 14.1 or 2 I think)

Nope, he's still entire. Maybe he's just a runt :D He is a bit special, mind you. I heard that about geldings growing taller, which is one of the reasons I'm hoping to keep him uncut for as long as possible so that my short-arse legs can get somewhere near his girth rather than sitting on the saddle!

PlasBach Gethin was only 14.1hh - he was uncut till over 3 yrs old. My friend's huge 15.1hh was cut about 6 months ago or so as he was apparently getting really bolshy. As I said upthread, her blog is really interesting (you can access it from the Derwen website. 14.3 is as big as I wanted to go as I would find it difficult to get on, not being very tall, and also, it's further to fall!
