Desensitising a horse to noises

I'm not sure horses work that way - would they make the leap between a noise from a CD and something whilst you're out and about? If it's a specific noise you've got a problem with, get someone to make it whilst you feed him treats... they often go deaf when suitably motivated.

Horses get used to noise quite easily. Think of the bit in Black Beauty where he describes his first experience with the railway. We live next to a shooting school and can ride past guns walk, trot or canter without so much as twitching an ear. :)

I have bought several C Ds of sound effects from Ebay/Amazon. They contain all sorts from cars, helicopters, sirens, bells, breaking glass, creaking doors. All sorts. The ones that got my pony really going were a galloping and a neighing horse.
