Desparate for help....please read...

I don't understand why OP can't post information about the horse and it's location. Someone may be able to help. I thought that was the whole point of the post.

^^^

Exactly this - why (as so deperate) cant you give us your location (doesnt have to be precise, could just be north yorkshire, for example) and basic horse details (height, age, health etc) ? There are many people on here who will go the extra mile to help you. I find it very bizarre that you dont give yourself every chance to be assisted, in such dire circumstances. You have been asked several times and you must have read the posts....

Thank you for your comments, I have acted on a few suggestions that have been posted on here this afternoon most replies have come from people in the South of England which isn't the area where I live. I've rung 3 riding schools today, made enquiries about grass livery and placed an advert for long term loan. For the person who said I could be making it up, I've pm'd you, anyone else who thinks I'm making it up I only wish I was, I wish I could wake up from this dreadful nightmare. I asked for help at the livery yard two weeks ago and everyone was too busy, although someone did put some hay in for her yesterday morning. So I'm doing everything to help myself. Positive comments and feedback have been much appreciated.

Nothing particularly helpful from me really as I'm not in your area, but I really hope you find a solution and very good luck!
Only thing I can think of would be to advertise her everywhere you possibly can and keep trying dealers!

You need to state the region you live in. People aren't going to reply if they have no idea how far away you are. Another option is the horse sales, again without knowing where you're from we have no idea if there's one local to you. Your horse sounds like she could get a nice home, but you need to advertise her - and give some proper details out...

I really hope that you are able to find a solution. It's a terrible situation to be in.
I am in South Bedfordshire and would always do what I can to help. If that's any use pm me.
Trust in the help you are offered on here, people really do care x

How do you know people at the yard know you are struggling if you're 'too proud to ask for help' ? Swallow your pride and ask! Also if no one is enquiring about your 'for sale' advert for her,you probably have her up for too much money. There is a recession on, and horses aren't worth what they were a few years ago. Try reducing the price a bit......

I feel very sorry that you find yourself in the situation you are in.
If your horse is in good health, safe in traffic, good with the farrier, vet and in the stable then there will be a good home out there for it. There are many responsible people out there looking for a safe horse. Advertise your horse locally in tack shops, feed merchants, Pre-Loved, Horse and Hounds, Horsemart and Horsequest.
Best of luck and I hope that you make a speedy recovery from your health issues.

Whereabouts are you roughly? My sister is an instructor at a lovely, beautifully run riding school who might be interested in taking your pony. Pm me if you'd prefer

I have nothing to offer on top of whats already been suggested but i really hope you get something sorted to take the pressure of you so you can concentrate on your health. i wish you well )))) hugs((((

I'm asking for a small sum to change ownership, a horse is only worth what people are prepared to pay and at the moment nobody has any money no point asking for silly money.

Who do people turn to when they can't keep their horse anymore ?? my lovely horse has been advertised for weeks and I've had hardly any interest and those that have been to view are not honest about their ability to ride. I'm due to go into hospital at the end of the month and I have nobody to help me. People at the yard don't want to know, some days I've so ill and had to drag myself to the stables in the evening to find the place in darkness and everyone has gone home and not even bothered to check if me or my horse are okay.

I've even tried to give her away to a good home but there are no takers, even dealers are not buying and I've tried horse welfare charities. I am not in good health and I'm struggling and the welfare of my horse is my biggest priority but its proving very difficult. I'm not the type of person to abandon at livery but I can now honestly understand the desparation of some people in these situations.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated, but please no negative feedback, it won't help.

Thank you.

I'm so sorry you are struggling with this, I have only read your initial post so this may not be relevant or may have been suggested, have you contacted riding schools to see if they could take your horse on?

Is that your lovely connie that's come online this evening?
Really hope you find a lovely home soon.

If that is your advert OP then she's looks like a super pony and I can't understand why she hasn't been snapped up already. It irks the heck out of me when I hear people saying "If ...blah blah" but I am now going to do it; IF I was in the UK I would be very interested in your pony. I love Connemaras and she looks like a wonderful pony.

Sorry you are in this situation. There is a new charity rescue for ponies been set up recently near us and there is also a new pony riding centre close by.
If you PM me some details I'll ask them if they could help.
Also, Beaverhall were looking for a well behaved pony a while ago, not sure if they still are.

Thank you, I'm not too far from Beverhall :)

A very difficult situation to be in and I can sympathise. Do not under estimate the power of your local radio and newspaper. They are always looking for good stories and, if nothing else, this does emphasise one of the problems of horse ownership. Surely there is a local farmer who could offer a corner of a field free of charge meantime? They often have family members who are horse orientated. You need to spread a wide net, though it does look as if your thread here is producing results.

OP, I cannot believe there is no-one up at your yard who is willing to help out- are you sure you've asked them? Even if you make it clear you will do jobs for them when you're better? Have you put adverts in local tack shops etc offering 'work for rides? And there must be some 'if' or 'but' with the pony if OP is offering her for free, or a nominal charge. This is a very strange thread!!
