Really desperate to get a saddle fitter out before Easter weekend, because otherwise it's likely to be nearly another week before I can get riding my new horse (due to bank holiday etc).
Have tried Bridlepath International- they can't come out til 15th April. Tried Frenchs' Saddlery but now it's changed hands so they don't fit saddles, only sell them. We have an Albion saddle of a friend's which I used on my loan TB (it fitted) so hoping it would work for my new boy. Tried it on yesterday and it seemed fine, but obviously I want to get it properly seen and fitted by a professional before I ride in.
So, recommendations for fitters who are able to come out short notice?? Nearer to S. Cambs the better!
Thanks

To be honest a good saddler has a long waiting list - two weeks is not bad at all. I had to wait five weeks for my saddler to come out, but then she came very highly recommended, and has done work for top international riders. I would recommend her to you (I know she will cover your area) but I doubt she could come out for at least three or four weeks, possibly longer, so there isn't much point. It's frustrating I know, but the longer you have to wait, the better the saddler must be. Sorry, not been much help.

Try Malcolm at West Essex Saddlery, he is based in Clavering and is an Albion specialist, he might be able to fit you in on the way to another appointment?? 01799 551172

Ooh thanks. Will give him a ring now.
RE your post on my other thread (only just seen it!)- so sorry to hear about your horse's lunging accident. We are now allowed to lunge in the school- maybe as a result of that. Thanks

Blimey!! I'm surprised - but then he has such a bad reputation that he had to change some things to get people in there!! And no, it wouldn't be because of what happened to my boy - although he is very lucky I never sued him!

Hope it all works out for you there, just be careful and his son is almost as bad as him - just very sly about it!!

i'd get someone reasonably experienced to check it (it's not rocket science to tell if it's an okay fit). if it's not tight, i'd put a prolite under it. i very much doubt you'll get a good saddle fitter out either today or tomorrow (?!), i always recommend Mark Fisher at Wisbech but he's usually booked up a few weeks in advance.
I'm trying to get my head around a saddlery which doesn't fit saddles, only sells them.... hmmmmm. something a bit wrong there!

Yes, I'm just hoping I can get hold of someone maybe on the offchance that they're visiting someone round here. (I know the likelihood is small, but worth a try!)
My instructor's away for a couple of weeks, otherwise she probably could have checked it over. I just really don't want to assume it fits and then do some damage- I'm definitely a saddle fitting amateur!! I think it looks ok, but as I say, I probably wouldn't know.

PS. The saddlery only changed hands v recently, so am assuming it will change name to 'shop' rather than 'saddlery'!

Ooer, doesn't sound good :S
There's actually a waiting list, so maybe he has changed a load of things..?
Thanks for the warning :S

lol!! waiting list - always sounds good, but I don't believe it!! You're friend's will Ellie aren't you? If so, speak to her groom and see if she will have a quick look at the saddle for you. She has been covering saddle fitting in her Uni course. She should be able to tell you if it is way off or not.

Good luck x

Yes, Karen, the saddler has been overcoming cancer and the chap who has worked in the shop for her for years and years is now running it, but obviously is not qualified to fit saddles.
