I seem to have a horse with lami (or at least suspected lami) and only have haylage. Does anyone know of anyone with hay round these parts?

I don't want to pinch anyone's precious supplies and will trawl the tack shops the best I can today but thought it might be worth an ask

Some haylage is OK for lami. There are thoughts that haylage is better as the sugars are fermented so less available to the horse. Maybe get a sample tested.

If you are worried you can always soak your haylage so you are just left with bulk.

Soaking haylage. That sounds almost sacrilegious! If needs must then needs must I suppose.

Honestly, I can't win with the ridiculous creature. All winter it has been skinny and now it seems to have lami. Next time I'm getting a cob, these TB things are more hassle than they're worth.

Jess, mine are not sensitive at all and I currently have a bale of haylage that is like lovely dry hay - not "sticky" at all. Whether I can get the same again from my supplier I'm not sure but can let you have this one (assuming it's the same as the others) - it's one of the big squares at around 70 x 60 x 110cm. If you're interested I'll phone my supplier and see if he's got more like this.

I can get it to you in sections today - it's too dry to go off in air! - or if you want it as a still wrapped bale it'll have to wait until I can get manpower to shift it out of the big trailer into a little trailer, probably tonight.
