Hi

I have a couple of horses in a field near Canterbury (there is a stable I can take them too if necessary). I need to get a farrier to come out but am hugely struggling. Both are now desperate but I cannot get a farrier to come out and cannot think what to do! There seems to be a shortage with all farriers booked up

Any advice???

I would ask around and call up ANY farrier you hear of! Also try finding out who does yards near you as often a farrier does 1 or 2 full days at those sorts of places and if you took your horse there, he might squeeze you in. If you're prepared to take your horses somewhere I think it does help a lot.

Otherwise its just a case of pleading with them and hopefully one will come out! I believe the whole of the UK has a farrier shortage - they are always in demand in my area.

Where are you in the Canterbury area? May be worth looking at the FRC website as there are a lot of farriers in this area, however many will only shoe where ther is dry standing etc. The suggestion to go to a yard is a very good idea, let me know where you are located and I'll try to suggest.

based just outside canterbury near fordwich, have gone down the line of the FRC website and could not find anyone free. Have asked everyone i know, i should just learn how to trim really!
