I've been riding almost 10 years now and spend most of my spare time at my yard riding or helping out. I get a fair few free rides riding new school ponies till they are ready for the school or naughty ponies but am desperate for my own. My dad won't let me have a horse/pony of my own because of vets bills etc. so I am desperate for a loan pony or horse (13.2hh min. - 15.3hh) although i'm not particularly small I am lightweight. I've searched websites continously but can't find a pony for loan in my area (LEICS. - Heather, ibstock, markfield, nailstone, ellistown etc.) Help?

well what sort of loan are you wanting? full/part because if you take on full loan im afraid vets bills would be for you to pay anyway.

you would still be liable for all bills the only thing you wouldnt have would be the expense of buying the horse, you would be better off sharing a pony/horse

Not trying to rain on anyone's parade here, but can someone explain to me why this is in any way different than ads in someone's siggy?
In my opinion, this is worse, as it's pretty much exactly something you could advertise in H&H in horses wanted, complete with title.

I think it is different. On here there are lots of people reading these ads that may know friends with horses. Or they may be able to advise new places to look. Also this is HMS first post.

Try typing in google new rider and stable talk, good luck with the search. Also try askinglocal tack shops and freelance instructors. Good luck.

That seems fair enough. But I am genuinely interested - where do you draw the line?
I mean it is obvious some people will post saying 'oh I have been looking for a 15.2 - 16hh for ages, you know that I can do Prelim on and ...' and it is quite subtle.
There are even some 'Am I asking the right price?' ones which frankly are thinly disguised ads - I mean if you are looking for a horse exactly like the one described?
How on earth do they decide what constitutes advertising and what doesn't?

I know what you mean, its difficult.

I had a how much but that is because I have a horse that a friend might want to buy, its important to get the price right as I really want the horse to go to her without being ripped off or offending by asking too much, for that I got some very good advice. (she would never be advertised, just to a local home and person I knew)

II think some how muchs are cheeky, but I do think its hard to put a price on something you love. I feel my mare is worth more than some of the responses I got, which is because they see the facts and as an owner you cant think a horse you have loved for so long is worth so little due to age. This made me drop my price by 500 to a friend.
