A blood test took 10 days for the results which came back neg,but mare looks infoal and loads of gut movement.Could the lab have taken too long over test and could she really be in foal?
Blood tests are only useful between 45 and 100 days of pregnancy. So if you KNOW when the mare was covered, and the blood was taken within 45 and 100 days following cover, then the result should be right. But between 45 and 100 days there is very little to SEE that helps you diagnose pregnancy. If you ARE seeing external signs of pregnancy, then she would HAVE to be more than 100 days - in which case blood testing is useless.
Thankyou I think i am going to have to get a second opinion vet to look at her.She was bought from the sales so dont know when she may have been covered, but something is definatley going on in there
we had friend couple years ago bought a mare thought it looked in foal, then she didnt, so had vet do blood test came back with negitive result two weeks later mare foaled! so maybe best to have vet do internal
