Some of you may remember a couple of years ago that I had to have my homebred 5 year old potential Pc eventer for my daughter put down with major stifle problems....well, it took me two years to pluck up the courage this spring and find another 5 year old, beautiful, talented mare with all the potential in the world...who daughter adored...to lose her to colic on Friday. PM will hopefully reveal more, no change to routine or feed but a swift and violent onset and huge thanks to our vet who battled with us for as long as viably possible. Still shell shocked and apologies for posting thread but I don't seem to be able to allow myself to talk but can type.

So sorry to hear your news.
The sudden loss of a young horse like this can be absolutely devastating.

I found that the replies from people on here when I posted a similar thread definitely helped.

Oh no! I am so, so sorry... :( hugs to you and your daughter, Old Bat... it's devastating enough once, but twice in so short a space of time... :( xx

I feel so sad reading your post and can understand you feel so shocked. it so difficult to lose one but to lose another is very sad. My thoughts are with you.

Sorry about your mare. Hope you can get some answers from the post mortem. Doesn't seem fair that you've lost two, but I guess life isn't fair sometimes. I'm sure you and your vet did all you could.

So desperately sorry to hear your sad news. I hope you take comfort fro, the fact that you gave both horses fantastic albeit short lives and it is evident that they were both incredibly loved

How awful. You poor things. What terribly bad luck loosing two in a row. It could happen to anyone and it's not your fault, it's just such dreadful luck. RIP.

(((((((( Hugs ))))))))
