I still cant believe it.... had to have our Lurcher Georgina put to sleep this morning......

Words cannot describe how I am feeling at the moment and I really cant get my head around it....

Yesterday took her and my other dogs out to the stables went around late lunchtime and she was running around as usual... had fencing stuff to do and she was just sitting in the back of my Pajero which is what she always did.. she seemed to be panting but I put this down to her playing with the puppies.... I also put it down to the slight cough that they have all had for a while... anyway.. went home and my daughter who had been at work thought she didnt look right... we rang the vet straight away and took her to see the emergency vet... he checked her over - took her tempature and said it was Heat stroke!!! I was completely gobsmacked... she was admitted... put on fluids and all seemed fine and then at 5.30am he rang and said she had taken a turn for the worst...we raced to the vets and at 5.50am we made the decision to have her PTS......

I just cant believe it... how could I have not known.... its completely devastated me.... if only I had acted sooner.... but I just didint know......

R.I.P... My lovely Georgina... Run Free at the Bridge..... you were so greatly loved and will be so missed.... xxxx

So please everyone... keep any eye out on your dogs... it doesnt only affect dogs left in cars..... I just wish I could turn back time... :(

I'm so sorry for you what a tragedy.

I am scrupulously aware of sun stroke because I have a Bulldog but I also got caught out a couple of weeks ago. He was out under cloud for no more than half an hour just sleeping and he was ill all night. He sat on the sofa with a wet towel on his head feeling very sorry for himself.

The heat can be a devil.

xx
