I've just come across the Dever girths which are very similar to the Professional Choice ones but half the price. Has anyone used them and are they good?

Saddler came the other day and said that my Wintec comfort girths are actually not that great at all as they don't mould to the horse and they are a bit slippy with no stretch. I have noticed since riding in an old Prof. Choice girth that my saddle seems a tiny bit more stable which is nice!!

My horse came with a Dever girth. I really liked it and thought it seemed really flexible and comfortable.

However, after about a years use it developed a sort of 'fold' underneath the buckles. Unfortunately, it was folding inwards and poking in to my mare and leaving a mark on her. :( Was sad but it had to go.

Did you realise it's velcroed on to the pad part and you can take it off and realign?

Just got super excited about this as recently bought pro choice girth for girthy pony and she loves it so wanted to switch others onto it too but soooo expensive - but can't see that they do this type (with the Velcro) in dressage sizes, does anyone know?

I have both makes and do prefer the PC purely based on the neoprene lining being softer. Both do the same job though. I think shires also make something similar

After always using leather girths I used a dever on a friends saddle and loved it. So much so I bought my own, fabric, lined with neoprene, elasticated ends.
Never a fan of elastic before but it's brilliant and gives a closer contact than my leather girth.
I love it.
Great price and good customer service too.

Great to hear all the positive reviews. It should be delivered today so will use it tomorrow. What I have really noticed when using a Prof Choice neoprene girth is that my horse stands stock still and doesn't move a muscle when being tacked up, keeps his ears forward and seems jolly. He is clearly far happier being ridden in it than the Wintec ones - he would always take a step back when I went to do his girth up at first. I imagine it feels nicer, its softer and warmer and stretches with him. Not sure I'd use any other kind of girth now. So good news that the Dever comes with high recommendations.
