I admit it, when CCJ spent all the money she had been given as a present on one, I thought,"Waste of money for a name!"
Now after seeing it in use on two different horses I would happily buy another.
The design is very clever indeed, doesn't look tight anywhere at all, yet the saddle doesn't move an inch.
Not sure if I like the green and yellow stripes, I would prefer something a bit more discreet, but if you like them and are wondering if they work, the answer is yes, they do!

has anyone got a picture of your horse standing there wearing it at all?
i have just bought the jeffries version but not quite sure how tight to fit it, i think mine is a little loose at the moment/!!
i rode out in it today with the sheekpskin patches still with their pplastic on as i didnt want to get them dirty hehe!!

and they have navy and with yellow/gold which are my xc colours!! although i do love the devoucoux!!

i didnt even really need one....as i had a perfectly nice stiubben breastplate which i am now going to seel to try and claw back some money!!

You can see it in my sig pic third along. You want it to fit snugley certainly is shouldn't be loose. With the elastic don't worry about allowing it room to move.

They used to give you the option of having it in black elastic - do they not do that anymore?

Thankyou btoh thats good i need it a little more snug, i love the devoucoux, but i couldnt really see that much difference between that and the jeffries..i also looked at townfields version but having their leather draw reins i thought the quality of jeffries would be better!
i have a lesson on thursday so i will get it checked then as well!

Lovely!
My friend has the Jeffries one and went XCing with it last week and loved it. She said the same thing about them definitely working!

I have just bought the Jeffries one, not used it yet. It looks really smart on. I was wondering how tight to fit it too so that photo is a great help.

Mine is the Devoucoux SJ version of the XC one. I got it because my horse isn't v big, when he had the wider green/yellow elastic and bigger bits of fluff on, all you could see was elastic and fluff!! So the SJ version is thinner brown elastic (much more subtle!)

Mine came free with my saddle and was the 2nd (after James Davenport!) SJ one in the country before tehy were launched (claim to fame there lol).

Its great, i wouldnt go back to using a normal one definitely. Have to say the Jefferies ones are identical and I also have a friend who is a saddler and will make them to measure in any colour for just under £100 - PM me for her number.

I have the jefferies one and love it. Leather quality is fab, and I got mine for alot less than the £180 devoucoux retail....Fitting should be quite snug otherwise there is no point having it, pet hate of mine!!

They're from Devoucoux and i think are the same price as the others i'm afraid! Mine came free with my saddle so not entirely sure what that is, or what the wait for them is.....

Finally a pro kolibri thread

It was getting embarasing the amount of post saying how people only bought them to be "fashion victims" and "will i win an intro if my horse wears one".

I think they are worth the money.. i got mine direct from Devoucoux, paying £160 for it + £15 p&p (£185) + something silly like a 3 month wait..

The Jeffries ones retail about £121 i think. I got mine cost price as i work in a saddlery, but i know Jeffries dont have too much of a problem getting them cos we ordered two more ten days ago and they have come in already.

Regarding the fit. Mine seems to exert a fair bit of pressure on the top of the withers - so I suspect I might have it a bit tight. Do you think it would make most sense to let it down a hole on the strap between the legs or on the straps that go to the side of the girth to allieviate that? I know it still needs to be a snug fit but it does seem a little too tight at the top.

It's a good job you ride well because maths is obviously not your strong point!

[****], it isn't, ooops that means i owe CCJ £10

So if they are £160 which they are, and they [Devoucoux] charge £15 for p&p which they did.. why did i end up writing a cheque out for £185.. me thinks i've been ripped off!!!
