Hi, this is my pony. My son calls her the devil pony because she is so naughty! Anyway, she is very intelligent and needs a job. I want to know more about her and would like to know her breeding. Anyone got any ideas. She is around 13.3hh and 4yrs old. Full on with curiosity and energy, and holds her tail high and to the side when she's happy and cantering.

If you're not in the UK welsh is not particuarly likely; beyond a few section B/A stallions in the US for producing crosses for US pony hunter classes I don't think they are that common. I think she's just a pretty mongrel - very partial to a chestnut mare!!

i have a “naughty” welsh pony! she really enjoys natural horsemanship type groundwork - she’s a complete a** at times but she loves to give you the right answer, and the groundwork makes it very easy for her to do that!

I have an almost identical mare - a 13h Section C. This is her at around 40 years old. She’s still going strong in her mid-40s and still has her “devil” pony moments. The photo doesn't really do her justice as taken in March, she is actually very fine boned with a pretty head. I can’t find a better photo just now.

Sounds like my little Welsh mare. She will take charge if you don't make the expectations clear, but otherwise is great fun and still crazy in her 20s.

Queen Victoria turned Arabian stallions out on the hills of Wales to add to the quality the native Welsh ponies. The lovely dished profile, large expressive eyes and somewhat determined character may, in part, be a genetic heritage of this decision.
