Hi GinaB.....

Does you schnausie ever limp???

Zak limps when he is out on a walk, but half an hour after we get home he is fine again..... ha can also limp when he gets off his bed, not having gone for a walk for days!!! (we have a big garden)

Vet just said cut his exercise down, but he will then get fat

I tried Devils Claw for my lab with OCD in his elbows - very large bottle of liquid - but didn't seem to make a jot of difference!

Hey MQ,

She can get a bit stiff at times, vet just said it's her age (she is now 7) If she has been lying a very long time, she would be a bit limping until she 'loosens' up again. Especially if home from a long walk. TBH I couldn't stop taking her out. She is prone to easy weight gain (although she is not built to be a skinny minnie) besides she loves nothing more than tearing along the beach with my labs.

Thanks for the reply ;.... Ravenwood, hmmmm I am not sure he would even eat it so for it to do no good would be a double blow!!!!!

Gina_B..... Its sad, Zak is also 7 but its not what I would call old

especially as they can live double that!!

we give ours no-bute. works a treat. they eat it too. It is a liquid and you can get it at most tack shops. your dog that is 7 and stiff what breed is it? that is not old really. My lab is 9 yrs with hip dysplasia (has has one replacement) and bouncing around with no stiffness even when he gets up. have they ever been hip scored? also wat it their diet? mine are on the BARF diet. they are so much healthier. also have you thought about getting a chiro or massage therapist out to check them? once again makes a huge difference.
Hope it helps

I dont think he should be limpy at 7 (started a few years ago too)

and would love to find out what is wrong, but the vet just said cut his exercise down...... he is hardly worked to death

Yes if you look on the back of no bute it can be use for dogs and horses. they use it for racing greyhounds. I too recommend taking the 7 year old to the vet. my have hip or cruciate ligament problems. even if only for your own piece of mind. also make sure it has a nice padded bed.

He has been and they can find nothing wrong..... he has a thick cushion for the sitting room and a bean bag in a wicker basket for night in the kitchen.....

He is also only lame in front so not hips, schnauzers are not generally a hippy breed..... and not sure if they have cruciate ligs in front?????

He limps when out on a walk over 1/2 an hour but then half an hour after we get home he is fine

so I would imagine .... as the vet thinks.... that it cant be anything too serious, otherwise he would be lame for longer. He can also be limpy after NOT going for a walk, but just laying around indoors.....

Thanks tiggs...... I have been and ordered it
