Hello guys... just wondering, since my mum gets 25% discount in holland and barrett.. so i intend to stock up on supplements!

Im going to get my old lady some devils claw, ive found 200 capsules which are 510mg but obviously thats for human dosage and it states to take 2 - 4 daily.

So, what im wondering is, what dosage would i have to feed a 16hh tb? Am i wasting my time? should i just invest in an expensive brand name supplement?

Devil's claw is also generating interest for veterinary applications. The treatment of degeneration of the proximal intertarsal, distal interdistal and tarso-metatarsal joints and of muscular disorders was investigated in ten race horses in comparison with a control group of ten horses treated with phenylbutazone over 60 days. (3) The horses were given 0.5 mg/kg of an approximately 3:1 extract of devil's claw. Six horses receiving the devil's claw showed a marked improvement of symptoms, even compared to the control group receiving the drug.
The finding that devil's claw is beneficial for the relief of muscular pain is a significant development and suggests that devil's claw may have value in the treatment of fibromyalgia. The dose of devil's claw given to the race horses (0.5 mg/kg of extract) was considerably lower than the dose used in the human trial (greater than 10 mg/kg of extract). However, it is conceivable that horses may be more sensitive to the herb.

Hi, I give my mare 30grams-Twice daily. She weighs 450kilograms. So you will have to convert to(lbs), I also buy my Devils Claw by the kilogram at my local Feed Produce. I find it more cost effective to buy it that way. Its in its Raw, Natural form, but I just mix it in with her regular feed and she eats it up just fine. It is also available in liquid form, but I live in Australia, so things may vary from country to country. I would call my local feed produce and see if they do sell it or maybe could order some in for you? I find it to be a fantastic herb, excellent for pain relief and inflammation. Especially good for Laminitic horses and ponies. Its doing wonders for my girl! Hope that helps.

I lost my gelding Bud, last year in August. I know how you feel. But believe it or not, it does get better. Rest in Peace Rags, and may you fly with angels wings always....
