devils claw for horses, any good ?

I am about to put my 14yr gelding on a devils claw supplement on the advice of his previous owner, he is pre-navicular (although not affected by this) but he has sustained an injury in his deep digital tendon and is now on 6 months rest. Has anyone had any dealings with devils claw and if so how did you get on?

I believe Boswellia is more effective and kinder on the stomach
