Dexters dressage saddle with picture

Some of you may remember that I posted about Dexters dressage sadlle being to high at the back (too much space between back and saddle) and you suggested to get some pics, well piccys cam out rubbish as was dark, but I managed to get this one.

Will try and get some more tonight in the light and post tom.

So what do you think, bearing in mind it has a Barnsby saddle cloth under it which has a prolite type thing in it and a mattes big thick fluffy pad which isnt pushing the saddle up at all it is filling up the gap!

That's far too high off the back. I know that the pictures arent very good quality, but still.

Is the seat sitting straight? What does the front look like? There are many reasons why the saddle may be sitting this high off the back - without pictures of the horse's back and the saddle itself it is hard to say what the cause is.

Did you say that it was fitted last week? Would you mind telling me who you used - send me a pm if you like!
 
It looks incredibly high not sitting on the horses back at all,I must admit that the picture makes it hard to see and I'm not a qualifies saddle fitter, but it doesn't look good to me.
 
The problem with a saddle not being in contact over the back of the horse can cause bruising as it bounces up and down when asked to do any more than a walk! you tend to find the Jaguar & older Stubben range create this problem! it is even more detrimental if lunged in as the bodyweight of the rider is not there to hold it further down in place. Over all its not a good think especially if it is fitted to a finer built horse which lacks good topline muscle.
 
The front can tend to pull down onto the withers a bit, it is a Barnsby saddle and one of the straps comes straight out of the front block it pulls forward a bit.

He has a good topline but is a TB so doesnt have a flat back!

Do you mean that one of the straps is quite forward? Does your horse have a forward girth groove?

sounds as though the saddle is too wide - pictures of the back and the saddle on the back without ANY pads/sheepskins etc would be helpful.

TB's are a special shape altogether!

I have never seen a saddle sitting like that before. I hope your saddler can sort something out for you.

As Ive said before, the saddle is too wide at the front by the looks of things, and the tree prob doesnt fit either. If he is a TB with typical TB whithers, he will prob need a saddle with larger points at the front to give the saddle a bit of height over the withers. Barnsbys are lovely saddles, but have small tree points, so dont fit all types of horses!
