DH and JFTD in training for the endurance season?

Speak for your self  I'm sure mines missed the surefooted gene out

Yes, but yours looks respectively more elegant doing dressage and jumping to compensate :D

eta - I wish I'd got photos the other week when he tried to kill you in the tree on the frozen stream track!

*kills self laughing* please elaborate!

Oh you would have died laughing if you'd seen any of us that day - we had the choice of a very long (cold) hack home, or negotiating a bridleway which runs along a stream, which in this weather, means an ice covered stream... The stream-track has a line of trees on the banks either side, overhanging and decapitating anyone who doesn't take extreme care...

I sent my cob in first to break the ice, then me&Fergs and dh followed, all plodding along fine until I hear DH squawking at Rob behind me... Rob, in his infinite wisdom, decided he wanted to climb the bank and was trying to kill dh on a the low branch of a tree :D

Needless to say, I leapt to her aid, heroically, by killing myself laughing and trying to get my phone out for a photo as she desperately tried to convince him to get off the bank without actually decapitating her :D

Ha yep it went someting like that  Pony isnt a great fan of having wet feet (far to diva like) so he saw the oppertunity to get out of the cold water so he did. On trying to persuade him back in, again drops not his forte either he protested by turning to walk the other way and through a tree in the process. Hence a fair bit of squaking at him to both get back in the water and not to take me out on a tree, theres photos from just after :D

yes, dh back in control...

And J&F

I wouldnt say I was in controll as such :p and you can see the green stuff on my knee from the attempted decapitation by the pony

Very jealous, and the tree story is brilliant! I got taken out by my pony deciding to launch over a shadow under low hanging trees. By taken out, I mean smeared onto the branch where I dangled for nearly ten minutes, watching my pony merrily trot off home... Eventually dropped into a muddy puddle and had to trudge home, dripping wet with twigs sticking out my coat.

Haha! That wins the prize for the best tree story yet :D:D:D

Yep you have out done me on funny tree stories :D but its ok I'm not planning on out doing you if I can help it ..... the pony on the other hand...

Hmmmm, I may have to see if I can find some even more treacherous tracks (actually there's one on the other side of the 1060 which is really nasty and on a blind bend...). I could set up a hidden camera in advance then go charging round (using Fergs new found forward momentum) ducking myself and watch you get removed :p :D

*I am the evilest hacking buddy ever :D*

After the initial skulking home trying to avoid being seen, it worked out rather well. Mum was worried by the sudden appearance of pony sans me, so purchased me a mobile phone :D I was so cool at school for that (in the days when it wasn't normal for 11yo to have phones!).

JFTD, you sound like an evil hacking buddy (in a fun way)! Love mad hacks, they're always the most enjoyable. We used to try and swap ponies as well on stubble fields, at canter, and jump anything that appeared to be reasonably solid...

Haha nice one :D

Yes, I'm the sort of companion who canters off at a good stretch without mentioning (I was on best behaviour today, checking DH was ok with the ground 'cos of the snow!) and trying to wind people's horses up (incuding my own :D). I did also point out a couple of convenient jumps for when the snow's gone too :p Never tried swapping ponies in canter though. I have however opened an old fashioned red phone box and answered the phone :p

It sounds like you would fit right in on our hacks :D

Do you jump the haybales? I was always too wimpy to do so, but Al used to her Pegasus Coblet- she'd make courses up out of them. Christ, it scared me...

Dear god my 5 year old highland would probably need mountaineering gear to get over big bales  I would if I thought he could / I had the balls though :D. Funnily enough dh was saying she wanted to while we were out yesterday!

Eherm like this photo? :D

Yes we were chatting about jumping hay bales yesterday I really want to and I may have planted the idea in JFTD's head to :D

You'll have to kidnap Al and have a hooley! She's horrendous- there are lots of hunt jumps round us, and so she makes me go out and jump them all on SuperCob. I'd ridden him twice, and she had us going over these enormous logs- I'm too scared of her to say no :D She video-ed us, and all you can hear is her shouting at me to get on with it, and then me squeaking with terror!

That photo's amazing. Your pony looks like he's going "I'm not with her. Honest...!"

Yes we should :D It would be great fun and you and super cob can join us. Or we could all go for a little xc session and then see what we end up being bullied in to jumping :D

Poor fergs had to be blocked in as he wouldnt stand long enough hehehehe

Haha yes exactly like that photo :o You do wonder what was going through my mind that day... Poor Fergs thought I'd flipped :D

Argh yes, that's exactly it - a mass meet up for a hooley round some over-sized jumps - if Fergs is following you guys I have no choice but to man up and hope we survive :D Don't worry lolo, you should hear videos of me going xc - every fence is "I'm going to die, I'm going to DIE... ARGH... We didn't die!" :D

Update - this morning my legs are fine but my right shoulder feels like I spent the weekend wrestling polar bears for whisky  Odd...

Very jealous. Mine is soooo put out at being dragged out in all weathers to hack that she has resorted to self harming to get herself a cheeky holiday :(

Haven't read all the posts but I saw you mentioned a Newmarket sponsored ride.. When and where is this? I have just moved myself and the horse to Newmarket (Friday just gone) and would like to do something like this :D

Yep. I surely did. No shame me :D

:D We were all having a good laugh at your bum's expense :D

I'm not sure if we could manage the whole Newmarket ride in 2 hours - are you flexible with seat savers? We could layer them on for you? :D

eta - tonitot - don't you have a TB? I'm seeing a HHO meet up where everyone else goes galloping off at speed and me and Fergs have to catch up several days later :(
