diarhea help needed!!!

my tb developed soft faces on Friday ,however today droppings are soft but he is leaking water out which is covering all his back legs and tail , has passed small amounts of droppings very freq today at least every hour ,the liquid that is coming out is making him really agitated x
 
My boy was poorly recently, the vet said if it is poo coloured keep an eye on things, but if it becomes like water, call the vet out.
 
Personally i`d be ringing the vet to ask for advice ...... secondly when was he last wormed/worm counted? as a worm burden can cause the squits amongst other things.
 
He could need worming. Encisted redworm can emerge in large numbers at this time of year. Put Vaseline on his clean skin as a barrier so it doesn't get scalded. You need to speak to a vet if it carries on longer than a few days.

You need to have at least a phone chat with your vet, it could be simple - or it could be the first signs of something big. Have you changed his feed recently? Is his worming up to date? Is he drinking ok? Diarrhoea can be a really difficult thing to treat if they get it badly - its very dehydrating - and its also one of the less usual signs of an impaction as the only thing that can squeeze past a blockage is liquid.

Give the vets a ring and speak to the on call one - they wont mind, its part of what you pay them for and they would much rather treat something quickly when theres the best chance of sorting it out. Fingers crossed its nothihg sinister.
 
Am I correct in thinking that this horse has recently been in horspital with colic? I would be ringing the vet asap to be honest as their are several serious causes including salmonella and colitis.
 
The first symptom when my horse had colitis was very watery diarrhoea. I would take his temperature, ring the vet and keep a very close eye on him. It can escalate very quickly from a simple case of the runs to something very serious.
 
Vet now. My horse became incredibly poorly with this and after lots of investigation it was cancer and pts! Sudden onset started loose. Please don't waste time and start investigations
 
You say he gets agitated when it happens, it could be many things, worms, change in grazing, haylage, he might be developing an impaction and be bypassing which may lead to full on impaction colic. If he were mine id have a listen in for gut sounds and have a word with the vet and if neccessary get them out
 
Phone your vet!...One of our ponies had very watery diarrhea and it turned out he has Liver Fluke, five weeks on he's still very poorly but would have been a lot worse if he hadn't started veterinary treatment promptly.
