Hello,

A few days ago my youngster suffered from a high fever and colic which possibly could of lead to a twisted guy (thank goodness it didnt!) but had some painkillers and is on the mend but still has diarrhoea, I've stopped giving him hard feed; is there anything I can give him to smooth is stomach or any other advice would be appreciated.

Many thanks

As he had a temperature/ fever along with the colic I would suspect an underlying condition caused this and it is still showing symptoms from the original problem, I would get the vet back to run tests, bloods to make sure everything is ok, it may be due to worm damage but without being sure worming him now may make matters worse, better to get a diagnosis now than to mess about with different remedies that may do more harm than good long term, it is not "normal" for them to have a fever with colic or to then suffer from diarrhoea afterwards.

I agree, he sounds quite unwell and I would suspect a bacterial infection. Please get the vet asap. Colic with high temperature is a potentially life threatening thing. My yearling was hospitalised with similar and hers turned out to be a sinister growth but infection was the most likely prognosis
