hey, just wanted to get an opinion on my mare? i only got her a few months ago and she’s on and off having loose droppings. she’s in a paddock on ad lib haylage, gets wormed routinely and drinks lots of water (i see her drinking in the paddock and she goes straight for the drinker when i bring her in a stable). she’s also a bit fat so not impacting her weight. most of the time her poo is either fine or a bit loose and the odd time its watery. i’ve been told it’s nothing to worry about but just wanted to get others opinions?

How old is she?

I’m might start her on a gut balancer such as Protexin and see if it makes a difference. Haylage can cause this, as well as increased drinking and if she’s being greedy with it, quite likely.

Have you done a worm count in case she has resistant worms.
If she's drinking an abnormal amount a Cushing's test is a good idea.
