I took Blade out for his first hack in company today, might not sound like a big acheivement but since i only had him gelded 3 months ago and have had loads of problems its fantastic for me!!!

We went out with 4 mares!! (he was in heaven!!) and apart from still thinking he had a pair he was fantastic!!!

We also went up the common near us and had his first group canter, bloody hell is he strong!! I was bricking it a bit going up to the common cause when i took grump up a few days ago the path was under about 6 inches of water and i didnt think he'd go through, just shows how wrong i was, he loved it!! spent ages splashing about in it and having a right jolly time!! he then jumped the pipe accross the track and showed us all how well his leg was!!

Its so fantastic he's enjoying things, cant wait to get him fit and doing fun rides!!

So apart from having stiff arms where they were wrenched out I had a fantastic day!!

Hope all of yours were as good!!

haha!! it took me ages to get pics on here, still cant get any on with my name, stupid computer keeps throwing up error!! cant beat a horse that will do what you want, my old lad doesnt, he does what he wants instead!!! thats why its all so excting to have blade (fingers crossed!!) to compete on!!

do you compete or just ride at home???

Had a lesson. Didn't wear gloves. My riding was crap. We had a few canter "issues". Now I have a big blister on my finger from trying to apply the brakes! And its rained here all day and is still doing so. So I'm feeling a bit fed up. (sorry - needed to have a moan). Nice to hear other people had a good day anyway.

O dear!! moan away, i usually do!!! at least if it was that bad today you can only do better tomorrow!!

Dont feel too fed up, you cant get it right every time, stick some cream on your finger and dont forget your gloves next time!!

Had a great hack out with the Old Boy: Nice breeze, warm sunshine and a nice chat with a mother and her kids who said about my friend's mare and my monster: "Oh they're so big , especially the black one !
grin.gif
Trotted uphill into the woods, Old Boy got a bit carried away as usual

(must remind him of the good old days...

) then had a grazing stop into a nice field to let them have a bit of a break and a reward before heading back to the yard. God, happiness REALLY is in between my horsey's ears

Awww!! i love it when people stop to look at the horses, my old lad loves it, he's always having his photo taken round by us, we go on the downs where loads of families go for a picnic and they love him!!!!!!

Sounds like your day was fab too, makes me realise why i took up riding again!!!

Went on a lovely hack this morning with my friend and her new pony - am normally terrified of hacking but it was great, both ponies behaved beautifully and we even had a canter across the field and stopped (last time we didn't stop until I did a flying dismount....) so I was very pleased

We went to a local XC course for a play. My boy was so good, popping some intermediates which is good for him (its taken a loooooong time!). He had a massive hissy fit at a log over a water ditch though. We spent a good 30 mins there. He's always hated this fence but it drove me nuts to let him win again, but he just wouldnt go near it. Otherwise he was great and no other refusals at all.

Unfortunately we made the mistake of leading him down to the course yards hosepipe, there was a dog on a big chain which went ballistic as we walked past so my horse went nuts. Almost flattened me completely, then a jack russell went under his legs so my horse kicked it. Oh god it was awful. The shriek it made I thought he'd killed it. Luckily it looked ok. My ned was very upset about it and stood with his front hoof up wanting some attention! He's taken a little chunk out of his hoof. AGHH!
