..sit in the field with their horses this eve? I'm sure I can't have been the only one! There was a fireworks display in the village where my horse is kept so I wanted to make sure they were ok and not being silly. The village is in a valley and horses on top of a hill so I had another motive for going to check on them- to watch the display of course! Sat on top of hill waiting for them to start with my 3 y/o mare stood over me breathing down my neck and trying to pull off my woolley hat, but kept having to get up when another horse came along as didn't want to get kicked! When they started me, Indie and another horse stood and oooh-ed and ahhh-ed, then Indie decided she didn't like them terribly and kept turning her back on it, then went and stood in a dip in the field with the other 2 mares where they could'nt see the lights, very interesting, maybe the ILPH were right when they recommend the horses must not see the lights, I thought it would be better for them but Indie thought not!

I was schooling up the field Fri night when a fireworks display started quite nearby. Adrian wasn't even interested in the noise or the lights, so we carried on schooling!! Once I'd worked out that he wasn't going to do a runner, it was quite fun shoulder-inning down the long side to an accompaniment of bangs & flashes!

My boy seems to like watching them if he is in his stable - if in the field he is far to busy eating to worry about bangs and flashes. The old lady doesn't like the noise, she tosses her head and legs it for the stable at each bang - but she doesn't like the sound of the boy's shoes being nailed on either! The only time we have had any real fun and games was 2 years ago when the people in the house next to the field had a display. That was a bit close for comfort, and they were all a bit stressed.

I was getting my horse in when a firework display started up nearby, he didn't even take any notice.
A few horses in the field had a vague gallop about but that was all, they soon went back to the important task of eating.

Yes! Me and my oh split up and he stayed at home to tend to the terrorised cats and I stood with my horse in his stable until the worst were over!

I was schooling ym mare as well, and she spooked onece, but otherwise was ok. Problems started when I took her back to the field - she got a bit panicky but only because the other horses were all galloping around. Otherwise she didn't appear bothered.
