Did anyone get any horsey aldi bargins today?

I popped along on my lunch break but didn't think they were very nice x The jodphurs would of done I guess but I recently bought some saddle huggers for £15 so didn't think the Aldi ones were very good in comparison. T-shirts definately seem short (and i'm short!). Think i'd rather get two for £25 of Derby house and get them in 2014 or whenever they decide to post them!

Very pleased i managed to get a lovely navy polo shirt in a small..smells nice & new & not of dye like some things of theirs do..and was surprisingly cool in this mornings heat despite being navy!..sizing much better than last summer so am very pleased..not often i get to treat myself..oh and incase any of you were wondering..has been road tested with head rubs, been sneezed on by a goat & a horse, nibbled by a sheep& then sneezed on by three others in turn...each with a mouth full of grassnut soup so yes..its been thoroughly approved of & christened!:D thank you pp for the tip off..:)

Thanks for the tip about sizing, I went down a size for the jods and polo shirt and they fit perfectly. I thought the jods were nice and thin which is what I want in this weather and I liked the grey/black colour.

They had all the colours and sizes in the Tottenham branch and some confused looking locals ;)

Went in today to our nearest Aldi: made beeline for the horsey stuff.

Bought:

- the Polly riding hat. Mega bargain IMO at £17.99. Fantastic as I fell off last autumn in my old hat and hadn't got round to replacing it (OK, OK, so I know, naughty girl me, will expect to be lectured on here now :))

- two Polo shirts, one beige the other navy. Don't actually like Polo shirts with too much writing and numbers on, BUT hey who cares for wearing around the yard and getting snot, worming stuff, etc etc on. And hopefully they'll be able to bung in the machine without objecting.

- joddies looked nice and light, but personally I prefer breeches, so didn't buy any.

- tried on gloves but they felt very stiff and I wouldn't have wanted to ride in them. Am a bit anal about gloves, have quite a collection, and they're all nice and flexible and you can feel the reins nicely through them, don't think you could in these, all they'd be good for is holding a shovel IMO.

- liked the look of the yard boots but didn't have what it took to put my poor swollen tootsies from the heat into a rubber boot TBH. Was wearing sandals so had bare feet anyway, and it would have been impossible to gauge whether they actually fitted or not because of that. And anyway have enough winter boots!!! Even for the last summer & winter we've just had! But IMO they were excellent value and seemed to be flying off the shelves - not sure all horsey people buying them either, think there were several gardeners buying them up.

- didn't buy the socks coz always buy ankle socks and these were full leg, but they looked nice to give someone as a pressie.

Well initial problem was the Aldi I went to turned out to be a Lidl :rolleyes: then I couldn't find the real one from the postcode on their site  after an hour of driving around I did find it. I got jods, socks and a polo for my daughter and a pair of cream jods for me. They are quite short on my 32" legs but fine for wearing with chaps. I got them as a spare pair for shows as I only have white ones at the moment. I also bought a pair of padded cycle knickers as I thought they might be quite good, but not so sure now I've opened them as the is a rather odd seam/padding on the inside. The cycle stuff looked quite good if you wanted hi viz, they only had kids hi viz cycle tops left which was a shame as I quite fancied one!

they do a fully no quibble 60 day refund policy, no questions asked & always with a smile, even if used/tried/worn (within reason!)

Popped in today after reading this thread.
Daughter very pleased with new cream jods (for county show tomorrow) polo shirt, two packs of socks and a pair of gloves for her and her brother to be stashed in the lorry (just in case they forget , which of course they never do :0 )

The yard boots are fab. I had some last year and they were great all winter, better than expensive boots in the snow.

The jodhs normally come up big. And the cycling gear works well for hacking.

I thought the jods were small, maybe I'm just getting fatter?

I thought so too but they are very stretchy. I thought they looked quite small so went up a size but actually I think they might not be tight enough and may fall down :o :D, the smaller size probably would have stretched and been fine. They are short I reckon.

I got 1 pair jods, 4 pairs of socks, gloves and a polo shirt today. I am normally a size 12 but they had sold out of jods in that size. I bought a pair of size 14 jods, they're a bit big but not too bad :)
