or was it just me?

luckily the menage at the yard only had a crusty top which broke up quite easily so was able to have a walk and trot around the outside track in the afternoon. Both horses were brilliantly behaved, even though they were stuck in. ( one due to lack of company, the other due to the ground. )

But from reading HHo tonight i might have been one of the lucky ones?

We went on a hack around the roads, went across one field but it was to solid to do anything more then walk. Roads were fine though

Loose schooled over couple of jumps in the indoor - hardest thing was getting George from the stable to the indoor! An hour of great fun and much heavy breathing - and that was just me!!!!!!

I didn't ride but then I don't have a school to ride in and I have to ride down quite a steep hill to start with. I decided it wasn't worth the risk. And I didn't have anyone to ride with so Jerry would have been more spooky.

I added 8 tonnes of rubber to my school last week and it has been fine, so I am rather pleased with myself!!! (my usual record is spending money and NOT fixing the problem so this is a first for me!)

well, I was waiting on mine hand and foot, since I kept them in, so it was hay, water, hay, water, 7 horses, all wanting attention!!> riidng would have been too much to add to my equation

I haven't ridden since September...been at Uni....finally get the chance to ride someones horse back at home and it was too icy to do anything other than a walk and little trot around the village....oh well it was just nice to get back in the saddle again!

just out of curiosity - if the surface is Ok to looose school on, why not ride? if it because of horse fizzyness? or for some other reason?

Sorry, ive not a native to the UK so only have limited experience of horsey winters

Yes, went for a hack in Windsor Great Park. Very quiet but very cold, and played it safe so got off and led across one of the roads where it looked a bit icy. I may have been toughened up by riding in Russia in winter when I was working there, snow is certainly not a consideration!

No riding for us yesterday or today

and if the forecast is right none tomorrow either. The roads are just thick sheet ice, the ground is frozen solid and its freezing. I am hoping to be able to take my girl round to the menage tomorrow and just let her have a hoon about and a roll, they have been in since Thursday lunchtime. Fingers crossed the snow doesn't come down again tonight

Don't fancy riding a 4yo that hasn't been ridden in a few days in icy cold weather

I also think they can stretch out a lot more when loose schooled

There was still snow and it was gorgeous! Wouldn't fancy it all the time but it was lovely as a one-off. We saw a couple of brave walkers and cyclists, plus some families with sleds that led to a few unintended canter strides (luckily in a non-icy field...) but other than that it was so peaceful

Nope, snow is deep and soft to ride in but haven't got a all weather school and the short road to the bridlepaths is sheet ice, we don't have gritters up here unfortunately. Snow is chucking it down again now so guess won't be doing tomorrow either althou we may try walking on the edge of the front gardens up the side of the road, neighbours are pretty good about us if we are considerate and dont mess up their lawns.

Nope school is like concrete covered in snow and the road access is sheet ice.

All horses are thought being chucked out in the school rugged up and seem to be enjoying it.

I treated Vardi to a full works groom complete with hot ragging under the solarium yesterday, then popped a new (clean!!) under blanket on him.

I have cancelled my saddle fitting appointment for Monday and put it off a week. Typical isn't it I get 2 weeks off and planned to ride every day Vardi has now not been ridden for a week. YO is saying that for the saddle fitting on the 28th don't ride him before and just buy the saddle that keeps me on when he goes batshit!......trust me to get the only Dutch YO with a sense of humour
