Are they not 'KC judges' like a BD judge?
or does it not work like that?
ETA realise I should have picked a showing society instead

I think people need to get (the showing part of) Crufts out of their head, personally, I think it's a bit of a red herring. It's one dog show among thousands that take place up and down the country and for me, the short snapshot that people see on TV isn't a realistic representation of what is out there, for the same reason that people don't model all their wardrobe choices through what they see at the Oscars. And if they do, they are generally bitterly disappointed!!
As I and others have said before...Crufts isn't an event that people should base their dog-purchasing decisions on. It's just one large and high profile event. There are lots of other shows and lots of other disciplines and lots of other arenas in which to look at dogs.
I cannot speak for the KC as I have not played in their ballpit for quite some time.
But I've seen fat and lame horses win prizes too.
We (as a species) seem to like animals that look like us. So flat nosed dogs, even cats I think, rabbits, sheep, those Valios or whatever they are called (now they are cute). We want flat faces, for I assume a humanoid look. Wierd.
I think that’s half the problem CC. Crufts is high profile and will influence a lot of new-to-the-game dog owners who have set their sights on a specific breed. If Crufts/KC allow unhealthy dogs to be paraded & shown on TV with various knowledgeable ? presenters exclaiming how wonderful they are and a marvellous example of the breed, who are they (we) to argue?
OMG it STILL comes immediately to mind! I haven’t watched Crufts for a few years, i find it painful particularly watching the hound group, but I can STILL hear bloody Frank Kane talking about the fat greyhound with appalling movement “as fit as a fiddle and not an ounce of fat on it” ???? If you had put that greyhound on a track, or shown it a hare, it would have dropped down dead....
CC may have heard this particular rant many times before ?
And watching the Labradors lumber around with their bellies swaying from side to side.

Frank Kane should be shot.[not literally, obs]He can produce more drivel than full blown flu. Cannot bear him and don’t get me started on Peter Purves.....
Had to watch it after your comment. The movement on some of them was dreadful. Elbows sticking out, straight stifles. One looked like a corgi on steroids. As an aside, I did catch a glimpse of my dog crush - the Smooth Collie - walking past in the background, sadly built like a tank, but it was worth watching!!We all enjoying the coverage of Westminster? One of my friends has just lost the plot over the Malinois ?

cancelled as unable to find inoffensive way of writing my comments.,
