I went to a show yesterday. Just before we left I came across a dog mooching around on its own with no obvious owner in site.
The dog wasn't doing any harm but as there was a horse show and a dog show on site I assumed all dogs should be on leads and therefore this one was 'lost'.
I kept hold of him where we found him while we tried to spot a steward (checked coller - no name or contact deatails). In that time no-one yelled "oi - that's my dog"
So when we spotted a steward I handed the dog to him so they could keep him safe and make an announcement (same as I'd do for a lost child)
On the way out I saw a couple of other loose dogs - this time trotting around near owners.
This made me wonder - had I just 'dog-napped' someones dog and handed it to a steward?
(Bear in mind it was several minutes between me finding the dog and spotting a steward - plently of time in my mind for someone who's keeping an eye on their dog to spot I had hold of it)
Opinions??
