Or will I be forever classed as a wet blanket!?

Got asked to lunge a yearling filly - work, TB, getting her ready for the sales, which is 10 days.
All fine.
Then got asked to long line her after 20 or so mins lunging.
I have longlined a few times before, but never had lessons on it, and have only done my own horses, plus maybe 1 or 2 quiet ones. I am not the worlds greatest at such a task, first to admit getting into a 'controlled' pickle with 2 lines!!

I took up the two lines and started. About 3-4 mins in, I didn't feel comfy. The filly had done nothing wrong, but I felt wrong. I politely said to boss, that I was not comfortable in doing it, so she took over and all was fine. I don't want to sound like I am a cop out, but I felt if it didn't feel right, and the filly in question is so young, not to mention her potential price tag of £200k + (Yikes:eek:) then I did do the right thing. What would have happened if it had gone wrong??!!

I just hope I haven't blown my chances of learning to do it right, if I refused to do it at all! I did say I would be happy to practice on the yard 'dobbin' - but whether or not I'll be allowed depends on the future!

Your thoughts on this please.

tell your boss what you said above then ask for some pointer and say please do tell me if you feel im not doing it in the way you would like.

tomorrow why not ask boss for a lesson or two off her so she is teachin gyou her way and to her standards, cant go so wrong then.

Different disapline but when I started to ride grand prix horses I was 'scared' of getting it wrong... until my instructor said in his beautiful eloquent way

It's an **********G horse would you ride it????

And that's the point if you're frightened of the price tag then you'll never be able to handle these horses but if you see them for what they are 4 legs and a tail... then you'll cope better. THe horse doesn't know it's special!
