What would you say he's worth?

5 year old 15.1 American paint x connemmara gelding, piebald. Absolutely beautiful and no blemishes.

Can be handled by children on the ground as complete dope.

Riding wise, he's absolutely 100% bombproof. Nothing fazes, lorries etc horns he doesn't even look. Forward going ride, hacks alone and in company and is happy to go alone too!

Not had much schooling. Working on that, only fault is he can be strong in faster work, amazing jump. Very willing and honest never bucks rears or naps.

What u think?? I'll post how much I paid after ;-)

Difficult. Both breeds are generally extremely sensible sorts and can turn their hand to anything. I'm guessing at him being coloured? In which case yes I'd expect the sellers to sell for a higher price than if he were a solid colour (might not be right but that's the way the market is). Bombproof counts for a lot as does being a dope on a rope. 15.1hh is not the most desirable height for selling so that should slightly lower the price. Without seeing a photo of the horse showing the quality (or lack of) it is tough to give a well thought out guess but if I was looking to buy this horse I would expect to see it advertised for somewhere between £3,500 to £6,000 providing it is coloured. If solid then £3,500 tops.

ETA sorry I just saw he is piebald then black and white often commands a higher price than skewbald therefore I'd say closer to the top end of my price guide.

No idea, but if he was worth that to you, it could be £10k or £1- doesn't change his value for you :)

But somewhere between £2.5k-£3k?

He sounds like a gem :)

£4500 that type seems to be at a premium and still selling.

If you are happy the price doesnt really matter, it costs the same to keep whatever the initial cost, a bargain is often an expensive mistake.

That is very interesting SF, any reason why that is? :)

Black and whites are much less common than any other colour combination here (at least in my area) I have 9 Paints in my paddocks, all patterns, various colours - not a single black amongst them.

He sounds lovely, & just what i'm looking for!!!! :-) Where did you find him? Does he have a brother or sister?
I'd have been very happy to have paid £3000 for him but wouldn't have been surprised if he'd been advertised for £4000.
Put some pictures up & let us know how much he cost. Most importantly, enjoy him & have lots of fun :-)

Wow that much? Maybe I under paid?!
This is him a few months ago: (he's rather muddy ATM;-)

I've always understood piebalds to be more desirable, - more black than white with even markings on each side. A horse like this would command a higher price than mostly white or skewbald.

Doesn't matter what you paid for him as long as you are happy with him. I love his unusual face markings, reminds me a bit of Phantom Of The Opera!

He was a bargain :-) Why can't i find any like that??????

What part of the country was he from? I think that prices seem cheaper 'up North' maybe i'd better have a little holiday up there :-)

I'm sure he'll be lots of fun.

He's a lovely chap and worth at least that!

I bought a coloured, connemara x cob a year ago for £600 (including rugs, etc) but he has a blemish. Couldn't have afforded him otherwise!

As someone else said. A horse is worth what you want to pay for it!
