Just thought i would share as i find it quite interesting
My lad is currently off with injury and investigations so far have shown a potentially old tendon injury to his right fore, que a slight panic from me thinking Ive been sold a duff horse who somehow passed a 5 stage vetting with an old tendon injury... anywho fast forward and his current injury is repairing, thank god although the right fore still has an enlarged tendon (SDFT).
Thought id drop the girl i brought him off a message just asking if he had been vetted prior to me vetting him and questions like this, she replied no but would gladly do some digging as she knows the breeders very well.
Well she did some digging and low and behold we have a potential time for injury.
Bit more background; my lad is rather handsome (i may be slightly biased!!) but he does have 2 scars one down the left hand side of his face right where the headcollar sits - i just figured a headcollar was perhaps left on for too long and another one on his left shoulder.
Well now i know how he got both of these scars and also how he potentially injured his right fore;
As a yearling he got his head stuck between 2 metal bars (very typical Arnie if you ask me!!!) apparently they had to get a JCB to separate the bars to release his head obviously whilst he was stuck he was flailing around like a fish out of water que the potential here to have injured his tendon, cant be confirmed but a viable explanation. Apparently the injury to his head was quite severe and the breeders wanted to PTS, vet disagreed and said yes head injury is bad but give him time - 6 months to be exact is how long it took for recovery - my poor boy. Other than being a tad 'special' now it doesn't seem to have affected him!
It may have been that the tendon was tweaked as a yearling and didn't fully recover, now Ive upped his workload its stressed, although the scan shows the tendon is intact.
I may never know exactly what he did but at least i now know how he received his scars with a possible explanation for his leg.
Bless him thou, hes such a sweety, not fussed about wearing head collars or bridles after a horrific injury like that!
Bit of a pointless post but Its just nice to know a bit more about his history
