Was just thinking back over the year, and thought that i have done a pretty good job of completing my goals for this year, was hoping to get the ponies out at county level, but transport issues put an end to that.. these were my goals..
For Tiger- get out at novice consistently- come with a personal best of 66.81, so far!
compete workers - didnt manage this unfortunately, but done quite a bit of sj and took him xc schooling!
get out at county level - didnt manage county but did take him affiliated and came 5th :)
go on a sponsored ride- didnt make it for transport issues, but did manage to do the same route with a friend!
go hunting!- we managed this, and he was a star!
we have also got him completely happy and non spooky out hacking, he is far more consistent in his outline and is far more rideable! his jump has improved along with his confidence and he is now jumping really well :D really proud of him, roll on next year!

For Roo - my aim was to find him a sharer to have fun on him - we succeeded in this june 2013, we found him the loveliest lady to love him and cuddle him, they go for miles hacking and go out for sponsored rides and hes taken her over her first jumps and her first sj competition since she had a really big accident on a previous horse :) lovely! :D

For Lola - aim was to get her out at county level in hand - this didnt happen for same reason as tiger :(
to have a bash at a couple of intro dressages- we did this! july 2014- came 2nd, won the next on 73 and participated at the riding club's championships, unfortunately a bad day for her so no placing, but really pleased!
to get her having a little canter happily with a rider by the end of the year - done this by a mile! she has improved so much this year and has been wonderful to deal with! this time last year i would never have thought i could take her out cantering in fields, jump her or take her to a ridden show and place!

Highlights of the year - watching roo take his sharer round their first sj round foot perfect despite all the scary stuff and looking after her!
- taking tiger hunting!
- getting tiger to hack out perfectly with anyone :)
- jumping tiger over a 1.10 fence :)
- getting tiger confident in a test arena, so he can really fulfill himself at shows!
- successfully managing to get him forward and off the forehand as much :D
- coming second in a novice test with 66.81 on tiger :)
- Taking lola to her first show in a ridden m+m class and behaving impeccably to come 4th!
- lola winning her second dressage test on 73.4 :)
- being brave enough to canter her out in the open!
- jumping her :)
and absolutely - her going supreme in show at her last outing this year, just a novice showing show at a local centre, with lots of combinations who have been out a lot, it was her first proper in hand class and she won that and the supreme, and also did her first ever sj round too, with just the last pole in the jumpoff down! so proud :)

aims for 2014 - Tiger - compete in a local workers competition
- do some more xc schooling
- have a bash at county if i can get there!
- debut at elementary for a laugh :)
- Lola - compete in a baby workers hopefully
- do some xc schooling
- also have a bash at county!
- debut at prelim, maybe have a bash at novice later in the year.. *shrug*

but mostly, have fun on them all, enjoy them, and have happy, healthy ponies by the end of the year again :D

How did everyone else fair this year, and what would you like to achieve next year? :D christmas celebrations tin on offer :)

My goals for 2013
Horses:
J – build fitness up, work on SJ on grass, continue with DR lessons. Move to Novice BE, and jump Newcomers BS.

Didn't do Newcomers BS, but we did compete at the RHS in the workers (1.15m) and were placed in a few discoveries over last winter :)

As for Novice BE, we did make the move up and competed in 3. We weren't quite ready so I moved us down to BE100 for the remainder of the season and we won our last BE100. in fact J came in the top 10 in his last 3 events :D

L – back in spring, take to a couple of shows over summer then turn away

So L was backed, but he is a bit clumsy and is continually injured so has been a bit of a slow starter, however he is currently beginnning to work again and can walk/trot and do a bit of canter in a controlled manner - but as he is so big!

H- There is a chance he may be sold. If not then aim for 3yo in hand.
H was sold to a lovely lady up the road. To keep Spock company I have loaned another gorgeous Shetland - Hector so Spock and Hector live out together and are the best of friends :)

Spock the Shetland – keep the weight off him!!!
Not doing too badly with this at the moment!

Personal:
Take hubby out lots to keep him happy about the amount of horses I have
Still working so far I think - plus he is happy with H being sold!

Watch CBBC in Feb to see what my hubby and I look like on TV!
Did this, the series was fab and its on again next year :D

Complete my university teaching qualification

Still working on this, completed on assignment and I'm currently working on two just now (displacement activity by writing this!)


Write a couple of articles (has always been on my long term list but never get round to it!)
Nope, not done this again!

Have lots of lambs at lambing time!

This we did, was a successful year with our sheepies

Save up for arena mirrors!
I did this and they are up! yay!


Aims for 2014

J - go again to Novice, get myself fitter this time, aim for more late 20's dressage tests.

L - get him out to his first dressage test and beyond :)

can't think of anything else, but was going to write an end of 2013 round up so might think of more things while writing it.

Placed 6th with just under 66%

-Qualify Area Festivals at Elementary Restricted

Placed 2nd and qualified for BD Winter Champs Hartpury 2014

-Qualify ROR Champs at Novice and Elementary

4th and 3rd respectively

-Survive Hartpury Pet Plan Champs

I survived!!! He was wonderfully behaved and although one judge really didn't like us, the other one did and it was a great experience.

-Debut at Medium

With just under 65%!

-Be able to successfully (and sensibly!) complete an 80cm course

Still working on this, ran out of time and need a more suitable saddle!

-Establish our half steps
Establish 4 time tempis
Start work on our canter pirouettes

Yep - Figs training is really coming along and we're starting to play with everything in the double bridle now.

Bring on 2014... U25's High Profile, BD Winter Champs, Summer Regionals at Elem, Pet Plans at Med and debut at Advanced Medium, ideally having him ready to go out at Advanced 2015.
 
2013 was

-take 5 year old ozzy and qual bn, disco and Nc regionals, also Blue chip.

He did his BN and 2 disco then was sadly pts

- sell shan

i did sell her then she was pts after a trailer accident on the way home


2014

-qual NC regionals (1 double clear off)
-start fox
-qual BC disco (already got Nov)
-place at BC

enjoy myself!

All with what will be my 6 year old in 2014 :)

Just sitting in my office listening to the rain that is like standing in a shower and hoping it might decide to go away and stay away for a bit (ages preferably!) however I have been told that its also snowing a bit too so no doubt we still have that to come!
 
Louies 2013 goal was to be consistent at novice then sell pony. In a way we succeeded these. We were scoring between 65 and 71% at novice and I did sell him... To myself. That still counts right?

Andy's 2013 goal was to do some HTs and get him out having fun again. Sadly didn't achieve this as he was pts, but he is no longer in pain and loved a full life.


Goals for 2014? I haven't a clue, just being able to keep Louie will be an achievement with everything that has happened. If I can face it without mum I want to do a bit of competing, I suppose that will be my aim. Do a competition without mum and enjoy myself. Also want to dabble in a bit of dressage anywhere. If I have any spare money at least.
 
Aims for 2013-
Compete in BS newcomers
- which we have done- yay

- start competing BE - also done- not the most successfully I add

Aims for 2014-
Buy a new Event horse- and sell my current showjumper :(

Compete the new event horse to Novice BE by end of season- will be a hard aim- but there's nothing wrong with aiming high :)

Competing newcomers with double clears.

And qualifying again for the national Amateur championships- and actually go to the final


Looks like a busy year for me!

Yes, me and my ex racer have learned a lot together this year. I had a few goals for our partnership. They were:

Start taking him out showing to get him used to horse shows.....Did 3 showing classes 1st and 2 2nds( qualified for ex racers club championships)

Get over 60% at prelim dressage( baby steps I know)......65% was our best score of the year. Hurray

Do an ODE...... We did! 4th after dressage (31), 4 faults SJ, eliminated XC ( coffin fence)

We have gained a lot of valuable experience this year, like how to manage him at hunter trials etc, we got to know each other a lot better and had some fun and cuddles along the way. I am really pleased with how the year went and can't wait to get going again next year.

Goals for 2014:

Jump a clear round at a decent height
Get him to jump ditches

Didn't really have any goals other than to improve & have fun!

I've jumped more this year & from that we now make a better team & the schooling has improved no end as I'm more relaxed about everything & enjoying her for her not what everyone else says!!
 
Had 3 goals for 2013-
Get a top ten finish at the Summer Regionals
-came 5th and not far from winner.
Get a write up in Horse and Hound
-got that in July with a Lovely Write Up and Picture
Score a 9
-got 4 9's and a 10.

Only thing I did not achieve was to get out at Novice as he was poorly and out of proper work for 8 weeks.
Goals for 2014
Get out and Qualify for Summer Regionals at Prelim and Novice
Qualify Nationals at least in Prelim
Keep my gorgeous boy healthy and Sound.

My goals for 2013 were to have my baby, see Jae and his new HHO rider have fun competing and finish the year myself with him doing a few bits and pieces and we did that and more!
He did get out competing with his lovelyHHo rider and it was super for me to watch. I had my beautiful healthy baby boy. I finished the year with some showing, dressage and showjumping winning or being placed at each show.
THEN I packed up baby, belongings, horse and hubby and moved across the world to California!
Jae has been a star settling into his new American life and it's been a real eye opener and a pleasure getting ourselves settled here.

2014 my aims are:-
1. to buy a trailer! I have my truck just need the trailer and what I want is quite few and far between so might take a bit of searching.
2. Complete a USEA affiliated 3 day event. There is one near me in Feb but if that doesn't happen there's a schooling ODE in May or a 3 day in June.
3. Do some jumpers, schooling (unaff) shows to start with and figure out what these A and B shows they have here mean.
4. Find somewhere that does unaff dressage. There's a place 1.5hrs away that does affiliated but I'm not going to affilliate to do one show so need to figure something out.
5. Get out in the trailer and find some good riding. There's 15,000 acres of national park right near me so could be fun.
6. Take Jae to the beach.

Most importantly not stress, enjoy my horse and my little boy and do what I can. We don't have anything to prove, it's all about enjoyment these days ;).

Last year
Get the horse in the trailer on the way home in less than an hour!
He is 20 so never going to set the world alight but I just want enjoy it the clinics and playing.

Well he always likes to take a minute to consider his options but I would say 5 minutes not an hour to reload, can also travel solo now where as last year I needed someone to lock the back door before he reversed quickly.

Clinics, done quite a few plus some camps and had a great time.

We have also managed local dressage, sj, eventing and showing and been place in all including wins eventing and sj. Not bad for a 21 year old horse. Went hunting for my first time on Saturday and the normally slow lazy horse showed he is capable of a lot more and kept up with the field master all day :)

Next year, looking to do more of the same. A couple of days out hunting to help with boldness. Lots of lessons so I can get a little more style and lots of fun days out pretending we are eventers popping over tiny logs and eating a huge picnic :)

I may have a go at the veteran performance awards but I am not planning to compete till its warmer so will be on the back foot. Also maybe some veteran showing if I can convince someone else to plait as mine aren't close to showing standard.

Those were my 2013 aims. So I didn't manage to do one BE100 let alone get to Blenheim but I did manage to qualify for Badminton so that trumps everything else. And not only came top ten at Area Festivals but qualified for the finals at Novice.

Also qualified for 4 classes at Winter Regionals which wasn't part of the plan, scored 68% in our 3rd Elementary BD and are now working towards Medium.

Jumped 1m10 and survived and joined BSJA.

And all of that despite missing 6mths of the year due to foot problems.

So for next year I will repeat my aims of getting to Blenheim. Would like to qualify for a BE100 Regionals and would like to do our best at the various Championships - top ten in any of them would be awesome. No time off due to lameness would be the icing on the cake having missed more than a year of the last 2yrs due to injury!
 
If I can keep my mare sound I will be ecstatic, I'm aiming to have lots of fun, Sj and x-c and maybe try a few events and just not worry about the dressage. I'm hoping to do some bs. But fun and lots of it is the aim of the game!!

That was my aim and thankfully before she went to horsy heaven in August we went to the beach with Dafthoss and had some amazing hacks. Im hoping pops is running painfree in horsy heaven.

My aims for 2014 - To get to know my new pony and enjoy him, at Dressage and SJ to start then hopefully starting eventing towards the end of the season. Setting up for a stonking 2015 (I hope)!!!
 
I didn't post any last year, but think I'll commit myself to print for 2014!

Floppy - (17.1hh 9yo DWB)
  • To continue her good recovery from a slightly bruised tendon so that she can compete in the spring
  • To get her 4th clear at BN (cos she already has 3!)
  • As she's now jumping NC, to get the 4 clears for that
  • Aim to move up to Fox in the autumn/winter

Kitty - (16.1, nearly 5(!) KWPN)
  • To get 4 DC at BN
  • To get 4 clears at Disco
  • To do a bit of BD with my YM as it's not my scene!

Me
  • To get a bit more supple through my hips
  • To (as always) get a bit fitter and maybe drop a couple of pounds
  • To do a few stayaway SJ shows!

God, did Floppy grow to 17.1?! Yikes!!

My goals for last year were to get Moon's recipient mare in foal (done, due May!), Enjoy SJing Moon once back from stud andto find out if Kitty wanted to be an event horse. All achieved so now the plan is.....
Moon- get back out properly, aim to jump 1.15s and 1.20s if all feels good
Kitty- start off unaff and then do some intros and move to BE100 mid season. Then see where we're at, maybe she'll pop round a novice before end of the year?
Mini-Moon- be born safely and survive first year drama free!
 
Well now we have the trailer its our 1st proper season with her being a 5 year old, scary stuff its came round so quick! She did 4 comps as a 4 year old so I shall see how she goes, I would love to so the event training at 90 at the end of Feb but tbh im not too worried if we don't
Similarly id love to do the byeh 5 year olds at bramham but if shes not ready I wont push her for it
So long as we don't crash & burn at every comp il be happy
 
I posted on the original goals thread so will be brief.

I didn't post goals last year as at that time K was recovering from a smashed tib and fib and we really didn't know whether she would want to event again as it was a bad one.

But they did event, came back out at BE100 and moved up to novice - something I never would have imagined, even without the broken leg!

So goals for 2014

Make sure I can work by business trips around eventing dates! I will have to travel more next year and its not local travel (think other side of the world) so I am going to have to be a bit clever with dates etc but I am sure I can work it out! That's the easy bit!

To get K & the mare established at novice, the "stretch" goal is a 1* late in the season but only if they are super confident at novice and jumping 1.15's BS.

To continue to work on her dressage with an aim to registering BD later in the year, the goal would then be to qualify for area festivals at novice and regionals at prelim which I "think" is achievable based on the recent improvements in her previously pretty awful dressage!

Above all for horses and humans to have lots of fun and stay fit and well :)
 
Well 2013 has been a total write off for me, my beloved main horse was diagnosed with navicular at 7, and I've had equine disaster after disaster. The only good thing about 2013 is that there is only 1 day left of it!!!

So - goals for 2014. Be able to get my lovely boy sound enough to do some low key dressage. Now for the mains ones (with the young 'uns!)
- Get 3 double clears at Discovery level
- Qualify for Prelim Regionals
- Get 3 double clears at BE90
- Get 1 double clear at BE100
- Do a dressage under 25

Ooh, my goals are very unambitious compared to everyone else!

My goals were:

Have a decent crack at some Novice tests.

Managed this - only at Riding Club, but we're scoring low 60s and aiming for Novice tests has given us both a bit more focus!

Jump a teeny tiny clear round class.

STILL haven't managed this, but we've had a few jumping lessons and I've stopped crying when the fences go above 1'3", and we'll be doing a jumping comp in February - only six weeks late for the 2013 aims!

For 2014 I'd like to manage 65% consistently at unaffiliated Novice, and have a crack at some affiliated Prelim. Get out jumping and maybe get up to 90cm (I'm not very brave, that would be a big triumph for me). Do a bit more TREC. Have fun!
 
I was not a member on here to post my 2013 goals but I was lucky enough to achieve most of them- qualifying RIHS, wins at championship shows, competing more in dressage and ODE. one of the most proudest is passing my trailer test, just the HGV to go!

For 2014:

My main aim is to qualify mum and dads home bred for HOYS and RIHS. With hard work and luck this mare has the talent to do this. I have been very lucky to compete there in the past but I know this would absolutely mean the world to them.

My overall aim is to carry on building a successful, fun yard where the ponies/horses have a varied life education and do not go just go around in circles to produce results! To take the highs with the lows and carry on smiling!

My aim for this year was nice and simple:

My only aim is for a sound horse, anything else is a bonus and I'm not putting any pressure on either of us :)

We managed this and plenty more, we came sound, focused on our dressage and managed to get placed in every one of our outings bar one, usually coming 2nd or 3rd :D We started jumping again and have just had loads of fun.

My aims are the same for 2014 - sound pony and lots of fun.

Outside of that I'm hoping to get out and event (80/90) and have been told I should be doing novice tests so I'd like to be consistent at this level by the end of the year but if we don't its not an issue, I'm lucky to be riding him at all so every day is a bonus :D
 
2013 ended up being a bit of a fail with majour changes!
Rowan:
-Qualify novice regionals
nope, although we did get a few points towards them we ran out of time
-qualify elem areas
nope but we qualified for novice areas but didnt have time to go due to work

ended up selling rowan to a fantastic home after realising dressage really isnt his thing.

Dancer:
-Qualify for elem areas and debut at medium.
Decided it wasn't worth reg her with BD. Went out a couple of times at unaff elem and scored decent marks.
She has now retired from competing and just gets relaxing rides.

Inka (4 year old)
-Get her out to first ever competitions and give her good experiences.

Went to 3 competitions at walk and trot and never enjoyed competing more in my life! Got good scores too.
Her training is coming on really well at home.

2014
Inka:
-Qualify for prelim regionals
-Qualify for novice areas
-start training changes by next winter
-start doing a few jumps
-go to sheepgate u25
 
The only goal I can remember setting for this year was to compete Ardashir at L2 dressage, which achieved - just. However it will be all go for this year.

For Diva - will be the open CTR at both the South Island Championships and the Nationals.

And totally OT, but it's new years eve here and I have just watched the Graeme Norton New Year's Eve Special - 2013. So when you get to see it - was the engagement thing a jack up do you think?

I think that my 2012 was so bad for me and A that we didn't make any goals at all! However, we did manage to achieve quite a lot this year - going to RC camp, first ever XC, first ever endurance, moving up to Novice, going BD and getting our first ever BD points! We had plenty of very successful shows and came home with lots of pretty frillies, which always makes us smile. More importantly than the physical results is the vast improvement in A's way of going - she has muscled up in such a huge way in the last 6 months, and the canter work is getting there - slowly!

2014 - I want to qualify for regionals and areas - which will mean competing out of county. I want to go on a HM simulator course to try and improve my position; really crack the counter canter issues; get my baby horse backed and maybe out for an intro test (although with her any outings will be purely experience as she is going to be a very long term project!!)

We have a lot of work to do, and I want to try and squeeze a few endurance rides in between all this dressaging as well if I find time! :)

Not yet decided if I will do RC camp again this year - although it may be good for me to go just to make me push myself again :)
 
My goals for 2013 were:
* affiliate BS after a 14 year break
check but not until August due to a bad accident​
* get 4 BN DCs
check in the first 4 he jumped​
* get 4 Discovery DCs
not even managed one but only jumped 4 so far and then have had 4 months off with bad feet​
* get 4 Newcomers DCs
haven't jumped a newcomers yet due to the horse having feet issues​

The bad bits of 2013 were:
* having all my tack stolen
* horsey having feet issues and being off for 4 months

The bonuses I had in 2013 were:
* making it through the year without falling off
* getting placed 6th in my first ever novice test (I really don't do dressage and it was only the 2nd test I had ever ridden on Star)
* winning the leading rider at Equifest

Goals for 2014:
* Qualify the boy for Scope
* 4 DCs discovery
* 4 DCs newcomers
* Qualify for at least 1 BC class
* Qualify for HOYs
* Would be amazing to win the leading rider at Equifest again but we'll see
* Have fun and enjoy riding such a cutie
 
My 2013 aim with Pickle was to move upto BE100, and have solid runs at that level. We achieved that, with a win, lots of placings, our names in H&H 3 times and 79 foundation points to our name! The 2014 aim is to move up to Novice, and if all is going well perhaps a 1* at the end of the season.

With Jem the 2013 aim was just to have fun. She had a lot of time off with various ailments, but she managed to finish the season with a BE100 win, so pretty chuffed with her. Not making 2014 plans for her, she is currently being a dressage pony with my mother, so not sure if I will be able to steal her back to event!

The 2013 aim with Celeste was to get her backed and ridden away, and a few in hand shows. Unfortunately she damaged a check ligament at the beginning of summer, so the shows didn't happen. She got the all clear from the vet to start work in October and she is now being ridden in walk and trot, and today did her first trotting poles. For 2014 the plan will be to continue her training. Get her out to see the world a bit before starting off with a bit of dressage and small sj. I plan to take her to a camp aimed at young horses in April, to get her used to staying away from home. Hopefully in the summer we can do some baby xc schooling, and maybe find a very small ODE, depending on how she is going.
