Did you achieve for goals for 2013? and goals for 2014!

My goal was to get Elz to load on the lorry without pressure and to ride her solo on Cannock Chase and we did it with a smile! This coming year will be fun rides, jumping and shows. Can't wait.

I sold Calvin and loaned out Pip so my plans changed for them dramatically. My overall aim of going international driving is however getting closer looking like next season, so my aims are to do an FEI and to go abroad in an adult class.
We won the Uni riding trophy dressage nationals a bronze overall- something I'm proud of being part of and can hopefully repeat but there's way too many variables.

Louies 2013 goal was to be consistent at novice then sell pony. In a way we succeeded these. We were scoring between 65 and 71% at novice and I did sell him... To myself. That still counts right?

Andy's 2013 goal was to do some HTs and get him out having fun again. Sadly didn't achieve this as he was pts, but he is no longer in pain and loved a full life.

Goals for 2014? I haven't a clue, just being able to keep Louie will be an achievement with everything that has happened. If I can face it without mum I want to do a bit of competing, I suppose that will be my aim. Do a competition without mum and enjoy myself. Also want to dabble in a bit of dressage anywhere. If I have any spare money at least.

Everything crossed that you get to compete hunny.

I can't remember if I contributed to last year's post - possibly not as it's not really my thing. If I did it probably said something along the lines of a CCI* for one horse and getting the other back to Nov after injury.

I didn't do this - in fact I fell out of love with eventing a bit, mostly due to finances but I also suffered badly from early season balloting and pretty much threw the towel in. I also made a couple of pretty big life changes that limited my time available for competing.

So in 2013 I mostly had fun and tried quite a few things that I hadn't done before. The injured horse went out on loan and now has a permanent new home field-mastering for a local hunt. I bought a lovely 4yo to back and break who has been a little star and loads of fun.

The highlights and new things I tried with the other horse were:
- dressage: won the RC Area qualifier at Elem and Medium and competed in both at the RC Champs, also competed at BD Medium which is something I'd never done before.
- took him team-chasing at which he seems to be a natural.
- ditto blood-hounding. It seems that big hedges are his thing!

I have some plans to try other new things in 2014 and seem to have a pretty good all-rounder to play about with. I'd like another youngster to break in at some point and might try qualifying for BD Petplans at Elem and Med (we Q'd for Elem last year but didn't go). I doubt i'll get enough outings in for regionals and to be honest we're not taking the dressage hugely seriously.

I may or may not return to eventing but hopefully a spin round an open team chase will be on the cards at some point.

Happy New Year!

Goals for this year had to change when I had to spend a third of it working on the other side of the world! Luckily for me, I found a fab jockey for my horse and got great enjoyment out of watching his achievements while I was away.

This year is turbo time for me, horse and I both have big birthdays coming up and it's time to knuckle down and get out and about! Looking forward to it. :)

I sort of achieved my 2013 goals, my new job that I started back in January destroyed most of my horse time but when I quit that and got my old job back it went much better. I won my first ever BD Novice, got back Hunter Trialling for the first time since his Op back in November 2011 and finally went round clear for the first time ever! I also went BS for the first time ever too. It was a year of firsts, but overall competing Nickel was my saviour from a pretty depressing horrendous year.
For 2014 I have loads of things to do - I'd like to do at least one ODE, Nickel's dressage is really strong, his cross country good and my showjumping is ropey! But overall I think we'd do alright. I am hoping to get to Keysoe for their Arena Eventing in February but that depends on weather really, there are unaff ODE's at Isleham and Ickworth that that I have pencilled into my plans.
I would like to get a few more points on Nickel's BD record, he is struggling to cope with the training required at Novice level even though he more than capable of all the moves at Elementary but his arthritis in his hocks will always hold him back and I'd rather not push him and ruin him. So we will also try to get our sheets for Petplans at Prelim.
Finally I'd like to take him to the Tattersalls meet of the Thurlow Hunt, it is at the Sales Ring in Newmarket and a big event.
I am going to also make more effort to keep up with my blog as I have missed out loads of fab things last year.

And have now got REALLY excited as I have just seen that my nearest Petplan Area Festival is Houghton Hall which is a lot closer venue than I have seen before, plus I shall be competing there before so Nickel will be used to the place before we go - Yay

I don't recall my 2013 goals, but I doubt I succeeded at any of them! :(
For 2014, I'd like to survive showing Peanut a little (and placing would be nice!), do a prelim & hopefully a novice on Tom, and possibly, if I have chance to get him out, finally do an Elem on Dan! Would also like to do a training week with Dan & still have a healthy happy Dimples pony with us too! :)

I had no goals in 2013, was thrilled to move to a new yard where I could at least occasionally hack my old boy, ended the year with the opportunity to compete another horse.
Aims for 2014... By the end of the year I would like to have a clear round over a metre course. We shall see!

One of mine for last year was to bring my injured mare back into work after 18 months of box rest/turning away/super careful management due to lameness - which we did - managed two hacks and then unfortunately she was PTS after an accident in the field.

My other was to qualify my little speed amateur horse for the finals at aintree - which we did - but he was PTS due to complications from septic joint surgery following an accident 5 weeks after my mare was PTS.

Needless to say 2013 was the year from hell!!

I now have a lovely three year old (well 4 officially, as of yesterday!) who I have just backed.

My goals for 2014 with her (when she comes into proper work around March after her break) are:

- Get her out and about jumping towards the end of the summer - starting with Cashjumping, and hopefully ending up jumping a BN or two with a view to collecting our double clears in 2015

- Try and enjoy(!) a prelim or two

- Just have fun and enjoy her really! No pressure, as she is only a bubba, and although she has been super straightforward and easy so far - she is a youngster, a warmblood, and a mare, so expect a spanner or two at some point!

I also foud my post on the original thread! I wrote:

"get back to competing to at least 1m confidently on Socks, preferably with lots of double clears!

keep them all fit, healthy and sound (maybe do some hunter trials on Monty if he stays fit and sound through next year *fingers crossed* seeing as he will be 23 by then!!!) "

I have definitely completed that goal :) I registered Socks this year, have been competing at 1m level (soon to move up to 1m05) and have had my fair share of double clears and placings; as well as official BS winnings :) woop! and as for Bugsy and Monty they are fit and well, however I didn't get round to doing any HT on Monty, but he is fit and well and loving life!

Here's to 2014! New goals:

- compete at 1m05 BS; hopefully including some double clears
- try and qualify for Bluechips and/or SCOPE 2014
- get my four double clears for BN and Disc (I'm 3/4s there already!)
- keep them all fit and well
- maybe try some arena eventing or HT on Socks in the spring/summer!

Well my 2013 post was pretty brief!!
My aims are to ride consistent 65% + elem tests and ride my first mediums, hoping for 60% +
It would be great if my 6/7yo could come back into useful work by end of year, we shall see on that though

But kind of achieved it. Qualified Petplan Open Elementary with a 3rd place at the festivals 65%+, Also rode 5 mediums with 4 at 60%+ culminating in a 6th place at the Petplans - all good there :)
Sadly that went tits up 1 week later when horsey bust herself in the field, and is looking like she won't make it to Hartpury

My 6/7yo, well he is back in work, but unfortunately not useful for competition. That said he seems happy and will hopefully be heading off to his new life as a happy hack soon, so under the circumstances it could have been worse.

My goals for 2014. I don't have any. Bitterly disappointed my darling mare is out of action so I may make fmy 2014 goals non-horsey this year.

Great thread!

My 2013 goals were as follows:

"Get going properly with BD on Cam - did some Un aff dressage this year and made a good start, but want to improve on that.

Understand how all this qualifications work - and maybe even qualify for something. That really is what I want to do. 10 years out of doing anything competitive and the world has changed!

And a mini goal for younger son - to get him onto the whizzy pony (our Arab x 13.2 who is a saint, but very forward going)."

Hmmm - it looks like I didn't meet any of them, but that said I am very happy with our progress. And son is all ready to get going on pony, but our school was being built over the Autumn which stopped both my BD tests and his riding. Hopefully those things will happen very soon.

In the meantime, what we actually achieved is listed in this thread:

http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?647415-2013-my-year-with-Cam-and-other-horses

And our goals for 2014:

- finally do some affiliated classes (that was meant to happen this Autumn, but with the school being built it didn't - not complaining though!),

- do some novice unaffiliated tests, maybe starting with the online ones (serious video training needed for my grooms!),

- try and get down to Sara Jane Lanning's again for a couple of lessons at least (she is a list 2 judge and it is useful to have someone who sees us occasionally, but not too often, to give objective feedback, especially from a judge's viewpoint),

- do another camp (hopefully Sparsholt, but they haven't put up any details yet, so we may have to find somewhere else),

- try and qualify for some type of championships - even Riding Club ones, at the next level up from last year, and,

- most importantly have fun!!!
