I got Blaze when I was 2, after my brother moved onto something a bit sportier and more competitive. By this point I'd had countless surgeries so all my parents wanted as a safe pony who wouldn't give me any trouble when my disability caused me to frequently fall off.
They say until I was 4 and I got my next pony, the only thing that could make me smile was Blaze

The first pony that was actually bought for me and I got a say in was Dell when I was 5. He fitted my only criteria of being very pretty, though I think my parents might have had a few tougher boxes to tick!

My dream horse was to get something like the team chasers I'd been lucky to ride at my riding school - a flashy, talented TB type who could jump the moon and had flawless flatwork. Specifically a bright bay with black points & no white bits.
My sensible side came up with the more realistic plan for a cob type pony (i'm a shortarse!) that would look after me & pref a gelding to avoid all the hormones. I wasn't planning to buy for a few years (was at uni) but it was fun to imagine.
A friend of my mum knew of a horse that needed a rider for the summer so I went to try it out. When I got to the field I was confronted by a bright bay, 16hh TB mare with black points & not a drop of white on her. With a previous owner she'd hunted, showjumped to BSJA & done riding club dressage. She'd been unridden & left to her own devices for 3 years & was a nightmare. She would jog and leap about when hacking, wouldn't slow down in the school & dragged everyone on the ground. Perfect for a first time owner who knew nothing of horse care beyond tacking up.
So I bought her :) 6 years later she has numerous health issues & has slowed down a lot, but i still think she's perfect. She's taught me so much & is with me for life.

I wanted a nice, sane, unbreakable type who I could have fun on and trust

I bought a 14.2h shire x cob who was absolutely beautiful but turned out to be a complete monster! I sold him on after 2 years and bought my horse of a lifetime who is everything I originally wanted and more
