The mares were sold (one with the filly I liked so much) as a team ***Sigh*** for only $800 (401 GBP) but despite the bargain basement price, I would have been in SO MUCH trouble with Mr. EFP had I come home with 3 horses. Almost bid on an extremely loud black and white appaloosa molly mule that went for $150 but didn't cause I knew that it was in response to not getting the haflinger filly... so next weekend, it'll be the Bureau of Land Management traveling mustang adoption for us. Should be able to pick up a lil diamond in the rough for $125 or so. Definitely not a potential ride for the liddle kiddles but it will still be a fun project for the next 12 months or so. (I can't wait to see E throwing her lead mare authority around; I'm sure she's going to do most of the hard work for me.)

THANKS again for all the input on haflingers -- not a breed we see much here and I would have totally thought suitable for children w/o your valuable advice.

Awesome that you are getting another mustang! I love people like you and want to thank you for helping them! Epona will be able to swap stories of the open range with the new one! LOL


Sorry you missed out on the Haflingers. They are one of my faves and I have always wanted one! What a deal they went for! Horses are getting so cheap here now ! The market has really plumeted here! I have heard rumors it is because the slaughterhouse closed in IL.

I have never been to a Mustang auction before!
I have always wanted to go to the roundup of the wild ponies in Chincoteague, VA
I would love to take the kids there but it gets really busy . I imagine just seeing the ponies less stressed and in the wild at the state park at Assateague island would be a better trip. They say the ponies come right up to you!
